I had my granddaughters over for the evening and we made pancakes for dinner. No pictures with a 2 and 7 year old helping!
The 7 year old was a great help in mixing and she had fun with the hand mixer that she had never used. No shells from the egg she cracked.
They were in charge of the Blueberries and we ran out about halfway through because they were eating them!

Had chickens as a kid, huh? Boy, have I got a story for you!...
Before my parents split, I had grown up on the farm. Grandma, a mile down the road, had the cows, plus some hogs. We had hogs, a few horses, a few dogs, a herd of cats, two turkeys (the kind that are over 3 feet tall!!), and chickens. Rhode Island Red chickens, to be exact.
When I became ambulatory as a child, and wandered our ten acres, the rooster we had became my mortal enemy! The turkeys were mean S.O.B.'s, but only drew blood if you got within striking distance, and didn't care to chase. The rooster, however, was not friendly, and could run faster than me well after I turned five. It's like I had a bullseye painted on my buttocks! I bled, frequently.
It was a viscous cycle (literally) of me running through the barn, then back around the barn, and back through again. It would attack if I stopped long enough to open the door to the house, which is why I didn't stop moving and resorted to running big circles. If I ran past my Dad or oldest brother, the rooster would stop dead in his tracks! This was usually the only way I could escape the rooster's wrath.
Fast forward to a few years ago, my wife asks my brothers about this infamous rooster. She figures that rooster is reason why I viciously devour chicken legs at KFC, in primal fashion. My brothers said two of 'em stomped the rooster's head in, because it wouldn't leave me alone. Probably one of the most heartfelt things I've heard from them !
Sorry for hijacking this thread, and rambling on.Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Thanked: 227The good lady wife and I went out for dinner with my buddy and his wife, then her and I went on to a cocktail bar.
Long story short woke up this morning and the diet was out the window 😂
On that plate is
Burnt roll
Steak lorne sausage
Rasher of bacon
2 Potato scone
Fried egg
Hunk of Butter
About half a can of baked beans
And to bring it all together a little bit of brown sauce.
That is about 900 calories of mmmmm.
Oh and a cup of milky tea to wash it down with. The munchkin on the cup is our middle daughter. I get a cup with her face on it every Christmas.

Cheese omelette
Homemade bread
Homemade yougurt w/honey
I used three eggs in the French-style omelette. Three might have been too many eggs for the size of the skillet. It took longer for the top to cook and they came out a bit rubbery.
