OK, I need to change my thoughts on the Aged Pu-Erh as I was not aware that there was a bit of honey added to the brew. Our welder is from Cambodia and he prepared my first 2 cups with a bit of locally sourced honey. Upon trying it without the added honey .... it was quite like drinking wood chips and mulch if I could put a name to the flavor ... it's hard to describe. I can manage drinking it, but would definitely prefer something less woodsy tasting. Or maybe I just need to add a bit of honey to it each time , or just give up on it entirely.

I am trying the Pu-Erh Mini TuoCha this morning. It has a far milder woodsy taste and aroma , and is pretty smooth. Not going to be a regular in my brewing, but I will use it again.

NOTE: Both teas were given a double rinse with boiling water before being steeped for consumption. Sarean (the welder here at work) says that is necessary to remove any dust or other particles that may have settled on the tea while it was being stored.

I didn't know this the first couple of times I made Pu-Erh. It wasn't pleasant drinking.

This afternoon I'm relaxing with a pot of tea from the Blackwood Estate, Ceylon. The pot I'm using has a one quart capacity so I can make up for OCDShaver's reduction in tea drinking.

Im warming up with a mug of Lapsang Souchong after a chilly walk with the dogs. My neighbors are burning oak in their fireplace which smells wonderful. I have my gas fireplace turned on and pretending the smoky goodness coming from the tea is coming from the fireplace.

Giving another Pu-Erh a shot - Imperial Spring 2011 Jinggu Purple Bud Raw. Not bad , way more mellow than the Aged Pu-Erh I have tried.
