Thanked: 1160Fantastic article. I don't 100 % agree with their take on teabag teas though. In their own realm some are better than others going from crap to pretty good actually .That being said this was a very good read. On one hand though I sorta hope tea stays a mystery here lest it get too expensive to enjoy,on the other....I sure wish I could get a spot on good cuppa at a restaurant......it's very very rare even at some of the best to get a decent pot of tea instead of a droopy bag stewing in tepid dead water. Usually the teas are of poor quality and sit unloved on the shelf in a fancy box that they bring out and show off as if to say hey lookit us we got tea !. No one takes the time to learn about good teas yet coffee gets carte blanche +1 one OC !

Today I'm having Verdant's Traditional Tieguanyin. This is a really complex cup. It has the floral aspects that you come to expect from this style of Oolong but there is a woodsy, spicy element there as well. Anyone who is a fan of Chinese teas, I highly recommend trying Verdant.

The Verdant tea I tried was the freshest tea I have ever had. Nice description of the oolong, sounds good.

I have to agree with you on tea served at restaurants. I never order them for all of the reasons you mention. I suspect that there are many reasons for how poorly its represented. But knowing that it will be so disappointing, you're best off having the coffee. You can get a lot of tea anywhere you're at. But if there is one thing I've learned, there is a huge difference between what is normally available and what is actually good. Its been an eye opening experience.

It IS fresh. In the short time that I have been buying from them, you can see the freshness show up in their stock. What is available right now will not be available in a few months. As the seasons change, so does their supply. If it says that its a spring picking, it won't be around in January. And that is a really nice way to enjoy tea as well, seasonally.

Cold winter morning here in Oslo today, but a nice pot of Dragon Horse Pu'Erh makes life better indeed. This one was harvested 15 years ago, the pack is labelled 1999. Enjoy your sunday Gents!
