It came out pretty good but the sauce was all wrong. It wasn't that old familiar flavor that I've been craving. It was very good though none the less. I'll try some different sauce recipes until I get what I'm looking for.

That's too weird seeing as California I would assume would have a high population of Japanese and well....you know. Come to Denver we got it here .

We have a large amount of Italian descendants here in the Walla Walla Valley however there isn't a single Italian Restaurant to be seen.

I don't count the pizza places.

This brings back memories of endless nights on the streets of Naha & Gate 2 of Kadena Airbase.

Don't ask how we came up with this menu...

Deep fried Turkey gizzards. Scalloped potatoes with Ham, Brussel sprouts, and bread pudding for dessert.

For some unknown reason I have been liking brussel sprouts lately.

Tonight they were just boiled but my favorite way is coated in olive oil and baked in the oven until they caramelize on the outside.

About 350'f for 45 min to an hour.

Not enough room in the oven tonight.

As some know I retired from a Corporate Grocery Chain after almost 37 years.

For many a year every holiday season corporate would 'distribute' certain items (that means send you crap you don't want need nor desire and will probably have to throw away) and On The Stalk Brussel Sprouts were always included.

The problem with the OTS Brussel Sprouts is that people pick the sprouts off leaving a fairly bare stalk that No One Wants To Buy! So we'd have to finish picking off the remaining sprouts and put them in with the bulk display.

One year I'd just pulled the picked off stalks and replaced them with fresh ones and soon an elderly woman was looking at them. I asked her if I could help her and she replied:

"I'm a Damn Fool"! I replied "Excuse me"? She replied "I'm a God Damn Fool"! I asked what she meant and she said:

"I grow these in my garden and I've stood out there with a knife and cut the sprouts off. I could have Hacked it off at the ground and done it sitting at the kitchen table. I'm just a damn fool".

    True story Gents, 100% True.

Removed them from their outer wear and replaced it with corn flour, corn meal, and spices, and promptly gave them a proper bubble bath in oil.
Some homemade tarter sauce, hand cut fries ( chips ), and a nice dark porter to wash it down.

    Mmmmmmmm, now that's good eats.!!

    OUTSTANDING!!!!

Some friends were growing them in their garden and something was eating the middle ones on the stalks. Not the top like deer or the lower ones like rabbits....

Then one day they saw their young son walking down the row.......
