I had a drop of sloe whisky the other night. The whisky component didn't taste like it was particularly good, but who would use good whisky for steeping sloes? It was very festive all the same. Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm getting ready to have some bourbon and egg nog. Happy Holidays!

Had a 16 year old Laphroaig this evening. Very pleasant. A bit less smokey and medicinal than younger expressions, but sweeter, bit more herbal. Very nice indeed.

I bet I would like that one. I love peat but Laphroaig 10 has always been a little much for me.

    Default Scotch/whiskey of the day

I bought an ardbeg 10, which I compared with the corryvreckan, and found the same thing

10 year old is very in your face and peaty rawness. Corryvreckan is deeper, sweeter, (saltier) with more complexity.

Both are great, depending on what you fancy.

I bought this for my parents as a Christmas gift and my excellent wife just happened to have bought it for me as a Christmas present as well.

Havent tried it yet, were at the inlaws for Christmas but will crack it open tonight. Apparently it is slightly peaty
It is from the isle of Mull so I plan on mulling over important things tonight such as whether or not I will need a second dram

It's well worth trying if you can find it. I got it in the duty free in Stavanger airport. About 35 quid for a half size bottle.

Not peaty at all IMO, but one of my faves. Flavorful and complex. Ledaig is Tobermory's peated malt which is. .also one of my faves!

    Enjoy!

Well I tried it tonight and surprise surprise I decided to have a second dram.
No it isn't very peaty at all, perhaps the guy that sold it to my wife and I (I presume it was the same guy) was thinking of Ledaig.
It was quite nice but now I want to compare it to the Ledaig, which I will have to find before I manage to finish this off
