I picked up a bottle of Russells Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon last night and just had some this evening. Best I've had so far. It's made by Wild Turkey and is pretty hard to find. I may just have to pick up another bottle!

I've been drinking quite a bit of good whisky today, including some of the smokier stuff from Islay.
I started with some Japanese Nikka Taketsuru because it's been a while since I tasted it and also to prepare my mouth for the stronger whiskies to come.
I had a dram of Lagavulin which is always nice.
I then proceeded to drink 2 drams of Bruichladdich Octomore 07.2 208 PPM, and finally I am now having my second dram of The Ileach Cask Strength.

The Ileach works very well as a nightcap because the taste is so strong that it doesn't matter if you ate chilies all day, you will still be overwhelmed by the taste and the finish lasts long enough for you to still enjoy it while lying in bed waiting to fall asleep.

I usually have only one dram and very very rarely more than 2. However I usually only have a dram after good evening with (occasionaly) aperatifs and some nice wine with the meal.

    Default Scotch Whiskies.....of the year.

Did I splurge? Did I go overboard? Will I enjoy working through everything that came in a package all the way from the UK for me from me? The answer to all three of those questions is, YES!

Hopefully the pics do NOT appear sideways:

Nice spread there! Great way to have a taste and not spend an arm & leg. Now for the in-depth note taking & sampling.
