In what sense? I find Japanese whiskies to be most similar to perhaps an island or lightly peated islay whisky.

I've not tried the 10 year old Yoichi but the 15 is excellent in my book.

I guess that would be why, I am not a huge fan of peated scotch. Around the house, Johnny Walker Black, Dalmore, or Glenmorangie are the usual suspects. I did enjoy the Yoichi, so maybe it's time to expand my palate again.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

The only Japanese whisky I remember trying is yamazaki 12 yo, which I would say is quite speysidey. Not too peaty. I'd describe the taste as quite sweet and a bit fruity with lots of oak and a bit of citrus and a hint of liquorice. Very pleasant.

I picked up a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 year on Friday. It came with three little sample bottles.

So the aberlour 10 year old...

Definitely a steal for £22 but...I just don't think it's anything to get excited about.

It's nice enough and very drinkable -- the best part is the nose -- but it's not got much of a finish, which can be fairly bland, and there's not a lot of flavour on the front of the tongue.

What flavours it has are good, but I find it lacking overall -- interesting considering the high reviews it gets.

Enjoyed some of this bottle - Arran 10 year old. Great liquid. Spingbank-ish, but not really.

Nice idea to include other expressions in the box. Whisky with extra whisky... there should be more of this kind of thing.
