I found a bottle of Caol Ila 12 yo in the back of the cubpoard with about an inch in the bottom so I just had half of that. Yeah, oxidation can do weird things to whisky. Sometimes it's not necessarily *bad* but it definitely changes things.

I finished that old Coal Ila last night, it was ok if I didn't leave it to develop with the water for too long, but still not what it should be. I'm off to the government controlled whisky shop now to spend most of this months whisky budget. I'll probably have to place an order, but it'll be Bunnahabhain 12, Bunnahabhain Young and Feisty Provenance and Cragganmore 12.

Just been to the shop and it turns out there's no Bunnahabhain Young and Feisty Provenance in the entire country, so I ordered glenkinchie instead and a small bottle of lagavullin. 4 reviews on the way, but I have to wait a week for the order to arrive first. In the mean time I think I'll be enjoying cask strength springbank again.

How is the cask strength Springbank? Loved the 10 year old. Could have a chance to buy a bottle this weekend, but at $90.....

I think it's worth it. It's very complex and will give you hours of fun if you're into nosing and tasting and all that kind of stuff. I've only tasted the 10 year old once and it was a while back so I can't say for certian, but I reckon it's pretty much the ten year old but with a whole lot of extra layers of flavour. I was going to say $90 is well worth it, but what I really mean is it's well worth it if you're used to Norwegain prices. I payed about $130 for my bottle, but in Norway that's not too much, especially for a cask strength whisky. I have a whole review of it on my blog if you're interested.

You are making me think I should pick it up. I already have the Balcones Texas Single Malt in my sights for Saturday. Could add that one as well perhaps.

There are some American single malts. I have had Copper Fox Single Malt for a couple of years now. Young whisky and tasty. Rick Wasmund doesn't follow the conventional rules, but it is still good. I will post on Sunday or Monday my thoughts on the Balcones for sure.
