Do you guys believe adding oil (of any type) to a soap would be bad for a brush? Does this have negative effects on it?
In my experience, I am adding both glycerin and olive oil to my lather and my brushes did not suffer any tangible effect.

Finally found glycerin under the "First Aid" section at CVS. $5 as advertised. Added it to my mug this AM after charging the brush and was VERY pleased with thicker lather. Great suggestion for a great price. I guess I could just be getting better at creating lather, which I am, after a whole month of doing it now but...this seemed better than average so I'll keep trying it for now. Thanks for the suggestion.

    No not bad.

Some folk experiment in an extreme OCD way and that tinkering
should be tested. So, if you have to ask, move with caution.

A couple drops of oil and glycerin just works for many...

Many shave soaps are hyperfated with those extra drops of
olive oil, avocado oil and more additions by the makers.

Rinse the brush well, let it dry correctly and you are good to go.

Summary: I am not going to risk my favorite $200+ Thäter when
my $13 boar brush will tell me what I want to know.

I too like LAZARUS, use Glycerin & Lanolin. But with a little extra secret ingredient Pure Argan Oil mix all three in a small 100ml bottle. Add two or three drops in with your cream or soaps.

I use it all the time. I first picked it up because i ran out of my favorite shaving cream and had to use a soap i didnt like until my new order came in. Turns a un-usable soap into one that is usable.

I will have to give this a shot, the price certainly sounds right.

I've tried adding gliceryn in drops and it works, also applying it to my face, and works also. Now I am using it (for more than a month) 50/50 with grapeseed oil as a pre-shave I apply after the hot water application. It works great this way. I plan to try almond and avocado oil also i this mixture.

I am adding glycerin to my lather and I have always been happy with add. I also add extravirgin olive oil or argan oil and I am happy with that, too. Glycerin can turn a good soap into a magnificent creamy lather. And it is very cheap: I usually pay 2 euros (around 2.30 USD) for a 100ml bottle.
