I've tried this, with tea tree, coal tar and geranium oils, but the problem seems to be that unsaponified oils, if more than the merest speck, do their best to kill off the lather, Mayday!! a bit like vinegar would, though not quite that bad! Maybe you'll have more luck than me. Nowadays I put a pea-size amount of Palmolive cream with whatever shaving soap I'm using, and instead of neat glycerin, I use a squirt from a premixed bottle of glycerin and triple rosewater (from the pharmacy), which mixes in instantly........ nice smell too!

I don't use it with everything, but it does help some soaps, even some I wouldn't have expected.

I have to admit I'm in the dark as to what you mean, but I'd much appreciate it if you could explain.

are other uses for glycerin,Charnley hones are normally used with oil,but oil is not user friendly to me.
Glycerin is water soluble and cut it makes a great lubricant for honing razors on stones that are called hydrophobic, thats what I use it for.

I have used it with the melt and pour glycerine soaps and it works well.

I rarely use it, but it sits on my counter in one of those fancy looking chrome and glass pump soap/lotion dispensers you get in Target...(It's fancy if you pronounce Target in French, Target')....Every once in a while, I'll uber a soap, any soap, even if it's a top performer. Yesterday, I used SRD's Lime, great stuff btw, and some Queen Charlotte key lime, also good stuff your probably not using, and a few drops of glycerin. My scuttle exploded with lather...it's just fun to experiment...I think the glycerin definitley brings something to the party.

I coat my face with it everytime I shave and add 4-8 drops to my shave soap. I tried shaving without doing so this week and cut myself twice. I beleive in this product. I buy it in pure form from Walgreens.

Yes, I've been using 2-3 drops to my shaving mug pretty much every time. Without it the lather seems to have less body, and dries quicker. With glycerin it looks like I've been in a silent film pie-fight.
