Has anyone tried the Superior 70 Bay Rum and compared it to the others? Given the price, if Superior 70 is really good, it's quite a deal.

Thanked: 1160I really want to to try the Superior 70 as I have heard many good comments about it. For now I use good ol Clubman with and added dab of bay laurel oil on the neck.Nice combo..very earthy and yummy. Actually smells alot like my SRD Bay shaving soap which just adds to the party !! Yes..if I could only have one scent,Bay Rum would be the one .....GOOD THREAD

I'm not sure how useful this bit of info is. I just picked up off of eBay a vintage 1960's Avon Bay Rum after shave. Very similar to Clubman but with an understandably mellower aroma. I mainly wanted this to add to my BR collection because of the painted bottle that looks like a barrel. Also, now on it's way is an unopened bottle of vintage 1981 Avon Bay Rum Anniversary Keepsake. I don't expect it to differ much from the other Avon, but it will a nice addition to my future Bay Rum "museum".

Gables
Gentlemen,
The missus bought me some Gables Bay Rum for Christmas. I did not really like the scent right away, but I used it so I could tell my wife that I had. I noticed right away the way that my skin felt afterwards. It was smooth and refreshed. I grew to like the scent soon after. A strong scent of cinnamon, citrus, and cloves. The great thing about the Gables Bay Rum is that the scent dissipates quickly, but a faint smell lingers. I use it for work for this reason.
I use Poraso Shave Cream and then a liberal splash of the Gables on the face and neck and I am good to go.
The SWMBO approves.
Regards,
Jochen

Thanks Glen thats a great thread to read for us new guys. Im having as much fun getting into all the "stuff" as I am learning to hone and shave. I got the Ogallala sandelwood bay rum and really like the way it smells/feels and my wife likes it also. I put it on after a shave and didnt tell her it was bay rum so I would get an honest opinion and she liked it alot. I want to get more bay rums so what do you guys recomend for a next try. I know thats tuff with all the choices out there but I have to get started so what do you think.
Thanks
Glenn
