Scents serve only two purposes (to me), cover-up or attractant. I bathe regularly and have a great wife of 29yrs so I don't feel the need for either.
I use witch hazel as my aftershave for the astringent effect.
Hoppe's #9 is my favorite scent

Good old Hoppe's #9, nothing smells "manlier" (according to one of my ex-es).

I thin out some bacon grease with some WD-40 and put a little behind my ears. I smell like a man and my dog even likes me.

Thanked: 0Hoppe's Number 9 is a 'manly as it gets but I use Clubman Bay Rum and find it to be clean and subtle.

sweat, hoppes #9 and motor oil. garnish with pipe tobacco.
seriously, although those things smell manly, I normally wear this stuff:
Caswell-Massey Number Six Aftershave : Shaving Shop - luxury classic wet shaving products - straight razors
same aftershave scent George Washington allegedly used. Smells good, kinda citrus.
Aqua velva is also a good smell, as is Pierre Cardin pour homme. The wife also likes the smell of Bergamot Axe body spray, so sometimes I'll use that.
