Thread: Manliest aftershave?

I like it.
"If you want your looks to kill, use Hoppes aftershave."
I'd use some gunpowder mixed in...something about the smell of gunpowder just screams "manly." If there were a gunpowder cologne, I would honestly wear it all the time.
"Hoppes -- you'll still smell great, even after firing one off."
It would also be a great pre-shave oil.
I had another quote, but it used the word "lube." I'm not sure of the protocols on that one.
Another great idea: Rockstar sweat.

That one scent I mentioned in my post (amongst all the other scents I mentioned) may not be the "manliest" scent option within the SMN products, but it is still a classic scent found in some of the oldest, most respected, and manliest after shave brands available, IMHO. No offense taken by your response to mine though; I enjoy everybody's varied opinions...
Also, what defines and encompasses manly when it comes to after shaves?? My gf prefers the scent of lavender, for example, over other more traditionally manly scents. So, if that scent gets her going and she enjoys it on me, then I would definitely also count it as manly.Last edited by Angeleyes; 02-12-2009 at 06:27 AM.

You right if it is one of the ones that have cosmetic oil and alcohol as the only ingredients. But most have other ingredients to help your skin and use the alcohol as the astringent.
As for the other yes they do our they should. Do you want to look 80 when you are 60. Ask a women what they would rather have against different parts of there body(Sorry bout that one but you get my point). Skin Cancer bad skin is more opt to get it. etc. So you can choose not to care for your skin but I will take the route of taking care of myself.

Englishgent bashing Lavender Lavender has been a Mans scent for centuries especially in Europe. All the old British Perfumery's still produce it. And a lot of the colognes made today use it in their mix and as well. And it was said well, is a mainly scent the one your cigar shooting buddy likes or the woman in your life or the women you are starting to get in to your life.

Thanked: 1903I'll take your word for it. After all, your urban population is world famous for its singular approach to men's fashion. especially with respect to colours (I own four shirts that my wife will not let me wear in Germany lest I be suspected of unnatural social inclinations, but which were, of course, bought in a shop recommended by London natives.)
But I digress. I somehow lost track of this discussion (what was the middle part again?), but would like to iterate my initial question: what is the exact definition of manly?
Thankyouverymuchinadvanceandallthat.

Anyone tried one of those? Pheromone Spray : Become Irresistible to women : natural aphrodisiac to attract women
They have aftershaves, too.

Thanked: 155I'm sixty and I look forty (at least as far as my skin goes), and I do not and never have cared how soft it is. In any event, real men do not care because they are secure enough in their identities that things line this simply do not matter.
Alcohol will temporarily remove much of the skins natural oils, but it does not stop their production and they come back in short order. In practice, since shaving with a straight razor removes all or most of the skins surface oils, the use of alcohol or an alcohol based aftershave really has little effect on your skin anyway. The alcohol evaporates very quickly, and once it is gone, there is no lingering effect.
I know this is contrary to what all of the skin product people tell you, but remember, they are trying to sell you something. I challenge you to present a single scientific study that shows that a brief daily topical exposure to alcohol has any effect on your skin. Studies by people trying to sell something do not count as scientific.
