Thanked: 4One of—if not the most—cleanest, safest, most expensive cities in all of Europe. I'd always spend the day in Vienna first, before making my way to Budapest—one of the dirtiest, most dangerous cities—if you're getting around the city by train—cheapest—save for its Balkans neighbors—in all of Europe.
Vienna also plays host to one of the greatest Asian restaurants I've ever been to—more so during the winter months when it'll serve Murauer Bock beer. Who knew? Old school Austrian Bock beer goes extremely well with fine Asian cuisine.I broke every clay today——even the ones I missed . . .

Why don't you? Solingen is just an hour and a half away, too. Horse's mouth and all that. And both cities are equally impressive in their own way.

Thanked: 734A late Christmas present to myself. I've had this a few days now. Upon receiving it, it was a very impressive razor. The finish on it is really outstanding. There are no clumsy spots. The horn is polished to a mirror finish, inside washers, and upper and lower jimps. I asked that it not be honed as I would prefer to do that myself. The factory edge was quite good, definitely shave ready. But I prefer my edges really polished. And this took a fantastic edge. The bevel was very consistent across the blade and it made great contact with the stone. Finally today I used it. Great shave, great edge. The edge was very fine but not the least bit harsh. It was not cheap but it delivered in quality.

I have one very similar to yours. It is a great shaver. You will enjoy this blade.

Ralf Aust Razor Club
Four or five shaves in, and this is an impressive razor. That Spanish point is, I think, going to be a very useful feature, once I've gained enough experience to make it an asset. I keep seeing pics of a RA razor floating around the net, with micarta scales. That, with a stainless blade, might be my first made to order.
Currently, this is what my shave setup looks like. It's all holiday swag, and I'm liking it all. The Kent KB8 Silver Tip is my first badger, and just seems to fit with such a fine straight razor. The SJoL product is, in all honesty, more about the scent than anything. Think this'll be my signiture scent. It's forcing me to get used to using a cream, instead of my soaps.
But the point of this post is the Ralph Aust. A 6/8 Spanish point, African Blackwood scales, impressively precise etching on a mirror polished, beautifully finished blade. The gimping style is perfect, IMHO. I can certainly see what you guys all see in this brand. I'll be wanting more of these. Now, all I need is the skill to get the most out of this pretty little thing. I'm working on it.
Cheers, everyone!"The reward of a thing well done, is having done it." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Ralp aust 5/8 square point, scales bocote. Nicely balanced razor. Pictured in the back ground is a thater brush, got to be the best brush out there, 5 years old and still like new.Last edited by gary haywood; 01-24-2016 at 07:42 PM.

If I had to pick one razor to live with it very well would be the Ralf Aust or even a close second a Revisor. They are almost tied nose to nose. The RA razors are truly something special and reason I have more than one.

Thanked: 734Having both as well, I agree that its really tough separating them. The particular RA that I have is much more polished and luxurious than the Revisors I have. I think RA offers more luxurious options than Revisor. But they both take exceptionally nice edges. I think it comes down to cosmetic preferences.
