I have, or had, three Ducks. One, a near-mint Goldedge, I lost to an unscrupulous eBay merchant…another story.
The second a beat-up Special Wedge that is SO beat up it's worth seeing just to emphasize how beautiful the razors in this thread are! I might try to do something with this one just because it's so beat up.
The third is a Special #1 that is quite solid and that I'm using as my first real attempt (after fooling around a while) with correctly and completely honing a razor.
Question: Am I correct that this Special #1 has a blued shank and I really shouldn't be trying to buff that off?
No pic of the lost Goldedge…sigh…here are the other two.

My one and only...a Goldedge procured from a generous member here at SRP a few months ago. Came shave ready and he wasn't kidding. Only managed to take 'er for a test drive yesterday - sharpest blade and most comfordable shave yet. Something special about this steel, that's for sure!

Thanked: 2Hey guys! Love this particular group. The reason I love it is that the first two straight razors I ever laid eyes on happened to be Ducks, and I bought them both. One was a Special No. 1 that I paid $15 for, and the other was a GoldEdge that I paid $20 for. I sent them off to Bob Keyes and got them back a couple of days ago. Man, was I surprised! Now, I am sort of obsessed with finding Ducks. I tell myself, "The first two razors I ever saw were Dubl Ducks, so they have to be everywhere, right?" Here are some before and afters.
P.S. I also posted these on B&B a couple of days ago, so forgive if you are seeing these twice, but I love the idea of a thread devoted to Ducks.

Thanked: 227May I submit my humble offering to the club
A special No.1 as you can see from picture 1 (although not a good picture) a mucky state, however in picture 2 a much cleaner happier little water fowl, I am quite happy as when purchasing I thought it was gonna need some work, but I was wrong, picture 2 is after about ten minutes with some mass, there's still a little tarnishing neer the toe, but I'm thinking I may keep it, it isn't active corrosion from whatI can tell and it adds a little character.
Also as a bonus, the edge appears to be in great condition with a good bevel, which pops arm hair with ease, so I think after alittle more cleaning and wiping I might give her maybe 50 or 60 on my 12K and give her a try tonight.
