I have two Shumates, a Barber and a 35. I've shaved with the 35, but it's not quite there. When I get my chrome oxide, I'll see if that helps, otherwise it's off for honing. The Barber is still grungy from the antique shop. Both are 5/8, the 35 is a round point and the Barber is a square point.

Do they qualify me for the SSS?

Here is a picture of a past SOTD with my Shumate which was my grandfathers razor and the razor that started me into this wonderful crazy world of straight razor shaving, I sent it to Lynn for sharpening and as they say the rest is history. It is marked Shumate on one side and St Louis on the other, only a 4/8 but still a great shaver

Glad I found this thread! I have an old family-inherited Shumate. It's in fair condition; the blade has a bunch of scratches on it, but no rust. Easily restorable, but it has a smiling blade, and i wanted to practice up on others before attempting to hone a smiler. Looks like it's time has come. I'll post "before" pictures later today if I can find my damn camera.
