If you like this modern acrylic scales don't hesitate.

Fonti... Thanks for the recommendation. I think the "Wave" would be a great display piece. It kind of reminds me of a custom Livi I saw a while back but at 1/4 the price.

As for the clear, it looks nice, but I would worry that I'd scratch the handle or that it would go opaque over time.

The 5/8 Wacker came in the mail, for my birthday. So, tonight, I'll give it a christening on my face.

Thanks Bela! I shaved and got about half way though and stopped. I was able to get cleaner shave and smoother with the Imperial "Extra Hollow Ground" I have than the Wacker. So I knew that the Wacker needed a bit of refining. I honed it with a 4K stone quite a bit and then went to the Franz Swaty for some laps, and finished with the Chinese 12K stone I have. Stropped 50 times and finished the shave a lot smoother than it was previous. It was funny, or rather interesting, to shave down one cheek with the Wacker and then try the Imperial right next to it on the same side and feel such a difference. That Imperial is no slouch and is my "basis" to judge a lot of others for sharpness and keenness. Interesting that such an inexpensive razor can trump the newer models at times. Finished shaving much smoother than the start. No nicks on using the Spanish point either.

Ironic that the sharpest, smoothest razor I have is also the cheapest. I get wine from my postion working at the winery, every time they bottle wine, so the bottle of wine I traded for it was free. The shipping for one bottle is minimal, and when Allan shipped the razor to me he did it free of charge alos, so only have about 3.00 into the razor and elbo grease to sharpen it. Yet, it can hold it's own against a Revisor, a GOTTA 120, a Geo. Wostenholm & Sons, and a Wacker. Lesson here for newbies that stumble across this. You can find some outstanding shaving treasurers for a little money and they don't shave according to the price tag. Jerry knows exactly how well the Imperial can shave. He's had one since 1968.

The Wacker is now good. Taking Glen's advice about the 4K hones it worked out better. I just had to spend just a bit more time at 4K before moving up the ladder so to speak to get to the 0.45 micron edge needed to shave close and smooth.

IME of making scales, you always want those tips by the Pivot to turn down the other way as it tends to be uncomfortable to strop when they turn up toward the thumb... Somebody that owns one will probably be able to tell you if these get in the way...
Will post a pic of my Wacker that I just acquired soon, maybe somebody can tell me more about it...
