I've never had a Robert Williams razor before, and maybe its typical for the steel used, but it was an easy blade to refresh. Couple passes on the Norton 4k handful on the 8k side a few on a Franz Swaty barber hone and stropped it. Good to go.
I should mention that I'm a terrible judge of when I need to refresh a blade, so when I notice it probably needed it a while back. I was getting a horrible shave and decided it was time. So after I found another one to finish the job I went to it and in a few min Old #151 was good as new.
I was a bit leery of touching up this particular blade since I had never honed a smiling blade, but after a few videos and a realization that I probably wouldn't do any real damage. Also it helped to get out of that "New Car" mentality it was like doing my others.

Spoke with RW the other day. I asked what # he was up to. Off the top of his head he said he thought it was # 165. So there will only be 200 of this limited edition. I cannot recall when I saw one for sale in the classifieds. So if this is on anyone's back burner, I would say don't sleep ........ it's later than you think.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1936The #145 of mine will scratch up a strop, fortunately I used it on a lesser strop instead of a nice one. I'll be smoothing out that spine on it before I use it again...

Announcing The SRP Logo Limited Edition Straight Razor
Mine (#120) was a little "crisp" on the strop at first, but the first refresh I did on the 8k and then 12k hones smoothed it out. I taped it like normal on the second refresh now that it's how I like it
Edit: I too had the "new car" syndrome with this razor, considering the craftsmanship and the significance. But it's actually very easy to work with, even for a novice honer like myself, and it is SHARP once it's back to standards!Last edited by RMarsh; 07-31-2014 at 12:27 PM. Reason: content

Announcing The SRP Logo Limited Edition Straight Razor
Yes! It scratch the most by the toe (spine area). No tape on the 4k, 8k, 16k, Escher. Also did some light rolling motion on the spine, on all the stones, but the Escher, if I remember correctly. The strop scratching almost went away. I would say, by the second refreshing, it would be all smooth out and it would not mark the strop anymore.
The spine looks shinier than the rest of the blade with no apparent spine wear.
If you feel uncomfortable doing this, then talk to Robert, he told me to send it back to him no problem.
The blade is one of my favorite. The shave is so close and smooth, the smile let you get to the neck area much easier than with no smiling blades. The feel on the hand and the whole look of it makes it my favorite modern razor of the bunch.Last edited by Double0757; 07-31-2014 at 01:07 PM. Reason: speling
