I put my order in a few weeks back but didn't hear from Robert which number of razor I would be receiving. If 200 was just reserved, I must be looking at like 195 ish.

Is that what Tim lists on his website for maintaining Damascus razors?
From my conversations with Robert, he doesn't use tape on the initial hone.
Here is the link with the information. Care and Feeding of Zowada Razors .

I think I've found the formula for this razor and will be using this method from now on. No more testing . When I get my calipers I'll measure everything out to see if I can make sense of why the micro bevel with 3 layers of tape makes such an huge difference.
Calipers finally arrived. My measuring skills may be questionable, but these are the numbers I came up with:

    Bevel angle Calculation
Thickness of used tape (in mm): 0.17

Razor Thickness of spine Width of blade Angle without tape 1 layer 2 layers 3 layers 4 layers

    Middle 4.7 18.89 14.3 15.3 16.4 17.4 18.5
    Heel 5.42 21.29 14.6 15.5 16.5 17.4 18.3
    Toe 5.47 19.45 16.2 17.2 18.2 19.2 20.2
    Btwn Mid & Toe 4.75 18.75 14.6 15.6 16.7 17.7 18.8

So in looking at the numbers, it correlates to the super shaves I get with the 3 layers of tape using the Zowada method of honing. Assuming that a bevel angle of 17 is the sweet spot for a razor. It's all speculation on my part as I don't have a lot of experience (zero actually) with bevel angles and how the shaves differ as they change. It was fun playing with my new calipers tho .

Woo hoo, #117 just arrived! For those trying to guess when their number will come up, I ordered it Feb 18.

It really is a thing of beauty, can't wait to shave with it. Darn it, I knew I shouldn't have shaved this morning (was expecting it tomorrow),
