Smile Week of September 5 - Monday

Pre-Shave: Hot shower + Stephan's Conditioning Smooth Shave Creme
Razors: 6/8" C'Mon HF, Hollow, Spike point
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Überlather: Al Raz' custom "Da Bomb" (Scent: Cloves/Orange/Cinnamon)
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
    Post-shave: Trumper's Limes Skin Food
    Facial Moisturizer: Trumper's Facial Moisturizer
    Cologne: Penhaligon Love Potion #9
Result: This is the first appearance of this C'Mon, which was also my first eBay purchase ($46). I was pleasantly surprised by my purchase - it is only missing the "C'Mon lettering/inlay on the blade, but "thewatermark" has kindly offered to give his extra scale that has this so I can send to Max for transfer, provided I give him the "end" inlays. Thanks Matt ). The razor was in dirty (grime, grease, etc...) condition with a little bit of light rust/pitting on the blade. MAAS to the rescue. A few laps on the stones (Naniwa 1k, Coticule and Escher) brought out a wickedly sharp and smooth edge and made it look like what you see in the picture. Al's dense formulation of the custom Bomb was fabulous and the scent out of this world. The C'Mon delivered a very satisfyingly first class shave .

This DOVO always delivers. Two days' whisker growth laid to waste!

Back in my hometown Memphis visiting family. Photo taken this morning looking north from Tom Lee Park, just below the Chickasaw Bluffs on which downtown Memphis sits. Downtown is off-camera to the right; Mud Island forms the right bank in the picture. The pictured Hernando Desoto Bridge carries I-40 across the mighty Mississippi River.

Nice shot Greg...Enjoy your labor day visit with family

This baby just recieved a touch up yesterday. Not because it really needed it but my honing skills have improved since I restored it, and so has my collection of hones. Took it from around the 8.5 out of 10 score to somewhere in the high 9's. This was also a nice opportunity to try out the new lightbox I made last night
Result: Real nice shave, about as smooth as you'll get with one pass. Very satisfying.
Congratulations baldy ...Nice razor and nice shot (that light box seems to have done its thing, heh?)

    Monday 9/6/2010 Labor Day

    SSA Eskiltuna 4/8
    C&E BBB
    Noxema sc
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    Aqua Velva a/s
    444 a/s balm

Working through my razor rotation I picked the Eskiltuna to go with the Noxema cream. I should use this cream more often because with a little work it gives me great lather which feels wonderful going on and helps the razor glide nicely along. Yesterday's injector shave was quite effective so I did not have much of a growth this morning which seemed to be just right for the Swedish blade. Sticking with the menthol of the Noxema I went with the classic AV and finished with the 444 balm. I hope all have a good Labor Day.

Thank you Robert! It gives a very smoooth and close shave, I really like how the near wedge and weight behaves together . This one and my Mappin and Webb are my favourite near wedges.

SOTD Monday (Labor Day in U.S. A.) September 6, 2010

Razor: 11/16 Early Henckels 401, Twin Works, Solingen Germany, Full Hollow, Spike Point
    Pre-Shave: Crema Pre Barba
    Shaving Cream: Erasmic
    Lather Bowl: Ceramic
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Medium Badger
    ASB: Nivea replenishing
    Aftershave/Cologne: No. 4711 EDC

Results: Perfection! This morning I used the Henckels that I stropped on the pasted strops (1 Micron Hematite & .5 Micron CrOx) and it was outstanding! The Henckels delivered a virtually one pass shave. If I were to get a shave as close as the first pass with the pasted Henckels with a cart or DE razor, I would have stopped and called it a DFS or near BBS. The pasted stropping has really taken the honing experience to a higher level!
