Just a measly "FOUR PASS" shave today!

Excellent! That razor is amazing and gave me a horrible dose of RAD!

My old friend froggy is neither surprised nor amazed...but it's back out to the pond tonite!!
Lovely blade Bill ...I got mine a little over a week ago, took it to the hones (pops hair like there's no tomorrow), but haven't had a chance to shave with it yet. My iteration is either 1096 or 1196 or some xx96 (the first two numbers are hard to make out)

Love Mr. Froggy too . I had missed the little guy.

    Prep:Hot towel
    Brush:TGN Custom Silvertip Premium A
Hones: Nakayama Maruka (prefinisher), Asagi (finisher)
Strop: SRD Premium IV English Bridle 100 leather
    Scuttle: SRD
    Soap: J.M. Fraser “Mosswood”
    Razor: Dovo “Best Quality”
    After shave: Pinaud Clubman
    EDT: none today

The top stone is Asagi, the bottom stone is Nakayama Maruka

Above and Below: Kanjis on the Asagi

Result:The wife was ill today, so I stayed home from work to take care of our 23 month old. What a busy day! I just now got my shave in. The good news is that after I put the little one to bed, I got to play with my new toy (Asagi JNat). The Dovo is my travel razor and therefore gets used several days in a row frequently and therefore needs honing more often than my others. My last trip out of town this razor was pretty brutal on the face. I touched it up, but it was still not quite there. I did 100 laps with Honzan slurry diluting to water on my Nakayama Maruka, followed by 150 laps with Honzan slurry diluting to water on my new Asagi. 100 laps on the SRD Premium IV and got my shave in. At first stroke I thought “You've runed the edge, the razor is completely dull”. The razor didn't feel sharp at all, but the whiskers were gone. There was absolutely no harshness at all, it felt like I couldn't possibly cut myself with this razor. I did 2 passes and I was smooth and I didn't even feel like I had shaved. I did a 3rd pass just for kicks, rinsed, and then splashed on the Aftershave. No irritation at all. My face is so smooth, seriously has to be in the top 3 shaves ever! I apologize for being so long winded, but today's honing success & shave were my moment of zen, I feel as if I am on top of the world. Thanks to each and everyone of you for the inspiration that you are!

The wife is feeling better, so it's back to the grind tomorrow.

    THANKS

Have an excellent day gentlemen, you've earned it!

    Glenn

Glad to see that Maruka being put to work, Glenn. That poor thing was just sitting around seeing no use from me.
