Post Week of March 13 SOTD - Thursday

    An (Almost) All American Shave

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Simpson "Chubby #2", 2-band Super Badger
Razor: 11/16" J.R Torrey, Full Hollow, Spike Point (Gift from Rene)
Strop: 45/55 Torolf linen/Premium IV leather
Überlather: NancyBoy "Signature" Shave Creme + Mama Bear "Almond" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: NancyBoy Replenishing Facial Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: St. Charles Shave "Sandalwood" AS
Results: Today was absolutely a Torrey day for two reasons: 1) It's USA razor day, and 2) it's a special gift from Rene (thanks buddy). I love this blade. She delivers an amazing shave every time and today was no exception. The NancyBoy SC is one of those cremes that doesn't get much mention (probably because of the name), but she definitely belongs in the top 10 list of shave cremes. Another smooth and BBS shave with zero irritation.

    Mark,
All those are fine blades...You'll love them. And today is USA day. I think probably your favorite.

Thanks for the kind words. I really like that Kamisori...not an everyday shaver, but a very special one.

    Tom,
Came all the way to the US (several times already) and no US razors??? That eans you will have to come back here again, LOL. No collection is complete without a US represented blade. It's like being part of the United Nations, without the US, LOL

PS: Glad you didn't have to shave with that Tanto though...doesn't look safe, LOL

Nice one David. I really like your Blackbird. Gotta love the twin reflex cameras. Have you taken her for a ride yet?

Nice blades too...For some reason, I thought you would have more J-blades.

I thought about using a US straight, but to me the Barbasol is a fine example of a US razor.
Nice going David...What a patriotic shave. Love the flag and the Capitol building in the background. Well done

Brush: Simpson Persian Jar 2, 22mm Silvertip. My very first!
Razor: Joe Chandler 8/8 Spanish point.

(I hope you see Viggo better today, Robert )
    Birnando,
You show off, LOL. But woooowwww man...That JC is a Monster. She's quite the looker too. But, displaying that sharp thing open like that is caring Viggo...that's cruel man, LOL (thanks for a better shot of Viggo...he's fabulous) and congrats on the brush too...great buy, but I am a bit surprised at the size you got!! Knowing you, isn't this a bit small for your taste? I thought you're more into bigger brushes (28mm+)? Simpson is fabulous nonetheless and I am sure you enjoyed her just as much. Of course, you can't go wrong with the Arlington either...nice choice in every respect my friend.

    Thursday, March 17th

    Razor: Wilkinson Sticky
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: H.L. Thater "Chubby"
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: DR Harris Marlborough Shave Soap
    A/S: Alt Innsbruck

The H.L. Thater "Chubby" shave brush continues to impress. It has the perfect combination of softness, backbone and flow-though and paired with the Harris Marlborough shave soap to produce a ton of wonderfully rich and thick lather. The Wilkinson Sticky has moved to the top of my favorite razor list and I find myself using it daily. I enjoyed another superb shave and the Alt Innsbruck was the perfect finish.

It seems that quite a lot of English shaving products make it to the States, but I'm not sure how far the reverse is true. Anyway, American day is a fine excuse (as if one were needed) to bring out this razor, and some fine soap. The Lindsay is a stealth blade: doesn't look much but it's superb.

    SRP:

Lindsay Mfg. Co. Pittsburgh, PA "Lindsay's Choice"; Omega Pro 49; Prairie Creations soap; Lacura aftershave.

Talking Gotta Love it... Happy St Patty's Day

Some of my favorite razors reside in my "American Drawer"
This was a tuff choice today but I finally chose some NY Steel with my Thistle... If I would have been more awake I would have pulled one of the Green Lizards for St Patrick's Day.....

Lather - Prairie Creations Tahitian Amber Tallow
Brush - Solid "Warm" Brass 22mm Silvertip
Razor - 6/8 Thistle Cut Co NY USA
Strop - Vintage Craftsman Timber Tanned
    AS - McLas Bay Rum

Really didn't have much to shave after the Iwasaki yesterday, and 6 razors to test shave today, so the Thistle was batting clean up
