Post Week of June 12 SOTD - Thursday

Pre-Shave: Hot shower + MWF Bath Soap
Brush: 26mm Simpson "Chubby 2", Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 13/16" Frederick Reynolds, Wedge, Barber's Notch (Red G10 scales)
Strop: 45/60 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather)
Überlather: D.R. Harris "Lavender" Shave Creme + D.R. Harris "Lavender" Shave soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue AS
After Shave Creme: Sabon AS creme
    Cologne: Penhaligon's "Racquets" EdT
Results: Today was the Frederick Reynolds' turn. To set the stage, I prepared a splendid überlicious lather out of the DR Harris lavender (the scent is truly hypnotic) and worked it into my whiskers for a good 2-3 minutes. The FR wiped it and the whiskers that were attached to it, clean. A simple yet wonderful shave. Smooth and irritation free.
Side note: I had also ordered some MWF bath soap which we used for the first time today. My wife disliked the scent, but I liked it a lot. However, we both unanimously agreed on the moisturizing properties of this soap. Great stuff for sure . It's a keeper.

A nice simple shave. Sorry about the synthetic brush...Tom (aka, eTom) has some from Muhle that he swear by. If I were to go for synthetics, those will be the ones I'd go for.

wanted to highlight a few of my new acquisitions while in Europe: The backdrop is our "new" 70-year old Persian rug, and I've included the new cologne and a hand-hammered copper bowl from Istanbul.
Welcome back Bill. Your presence was very much missed. From the looks of it, you seem to have a great time. I love those acquisitions, especially the rug and bowl. Persian rugs are a great investment. 70 yrs is still young, LOL.

PS: Jet lag shaves will be with you for a few days, LOL. Great one though.

Beautiful razor and brush Mikael. I love the Helje 40 series (I own the 41, wedge). This one looks like a full hollow. Haven't seen too many 42s lying around. Is she a full hollow? I am curious about the brush handle finish...Is she protected with some varnish/CA or something? The reason I ask is because I have a Rudy Vey in Kingwood and I opted not to have it covered with anything and I worry about when it gets wet.

Great choice today Rene. BayRum and this Wacker rock. She should take on a nice edge fairly easily.

    Grant,
Sorry to hear about the Mutant's less than perfect performance, but gotta admit she's quite the looker. Have fun with her on the stones.

Nice Wacker King. I correct myself about your collection. Now, we can add English to the Italian/French mix. Well done

    Razor: Torrey 5/8
    Brush: Unknown boar
    Soap: Williams Mug Soap
    AS: Thayers Lavender
Result: Need to touch up the Torrey. Barely able to get through one pass with it. No nicks or irritation, just horribly uncomfotable.

It's okay, Robert, a picture is worth a thousand words, and this one says much!

Ouuuch T. Sorry about the edge on this one. That pulling/tugging is just not fun. Sonds like she may need a little more than just a touch up. Give her some TLC, "Theseus"-style and she's come roaring through the next time.

Going with what is a bit of a standard, and will be at least for the short term, with a postal strike on the odds of having hones arrive is non existent. Thus bringing more razors into rotation is not going to happen any time soon

    Anyhow...
Prep: hot shower and lingering lather
    Soap: Fitjar lighthouse bay rum
    Brush: Rooney's
    Razor: Dovo C-Mon Blackie

The touch up on the pasted strop has put a little more life into the edge and a couple days of shaving has tuned it up... easy shave this morning close and comfortable.
