LOOOOOOOOL
...And so it begins, LOL
Congratulations on many fronts Tim.
(1) She is a thing of beauty. When you gotta have it, you gotta have it
(2) Well done on the restore/honing
(3) Welcome to nirvana
Kalerolf,
Not just a cool shave...A Mama Bear "Ice" Cool shave. Fabulously cool Goshen too
Thank you for those kind words Jamie. What can I say: you guys inspire me.
PS: Glad you like the Japanese Frameback. Stay tuned for more this week.
+1
Wowwww Paul...now, 25nm is extremely small buddy. I was under the impression that diamond particle sizes (at least those used for razor pastes etc) were on average 500nm. Yours is ~20 times smaller and finer. I am impressed. That should put on a hell of a sharp edge...Maybe you're right, the edge may be too thin and hence unstable to be usable.
I know...tell me about it José, LOL
Stunning photo Teiste
Johan,
Reading about this wonderful shave takes the edge off my busy day too. Well done and thank you
Nice razor Chief
PS: How many scales did you end up shaping?
Joe,
Happy anniversary. May you and wife celebrate your 50th and 75th in style. It just keeps getting better with time. Keep having fun my friend. That's what it's all about.
Thank you Joe...but I can honestly say (and I think Mikael and everyone else will agree) that Birnando has every razor on this planet (probably two to 3 of each), past, present and maybe even future.
Not sure what the C&S smells like, but the CF lavender comes relatively close (in scent)...The MdC lavende smells a bit purer to me. Get the Vetiver...you will like it. If you don't, I am sure someone will take it off your hands, LOL
Hog,
What can I say? You're the man. I had missed your SOTDs...this one was hilarious.
And he goes for the La Toja...AWESOME Frank
Dude,
With such a beautiful blade, all you can concentrate on is the photo???? Man, forget the photography, great looking piece of steel Jeff. Congrats my friend
Hmmmm Rene...I shaved with a C&S once and all I remember was that it was fantastic. Smooth as butter.
Fantastic looking Gencos Rene. I am sure you can dial the edges back a bit to fit your preference
A Montague/Harris Lavender Galore???? Touchdown Julian

Thanked: 17Back to being relatively clean shaven!
As per usual: Fitjar Lighthouse Bay Rum, Rooney badger, Dovo C-Mon Blackie, a splash of witch hazel followed by a couple fingers of Bruichladdich...
A good two pass shave, a fine whiskey, and a good night to peruse some SOTD posts.

Love the Blackie!!!!!!
Robert, Yup the diamond sprays get real small. On my knives it's amazing, but that is usually at 20-30 degree's on a much thicker piece of metal. I may try it on a wedge soon just to see. I'm in of the same thought as you with the hollow ground blades making it too unstable.Last edited by Maximilian; 06-29-2011 at 01:27 PM. Wednesday
Good morning gents. Back to base after a short period on the go.
Few acquisitions in the meantime, so plenty of shaving stuff to enjoy from now on.

Mikael is right, Jamie. The more and the longer you think you should put it off, the less you will even attempt to get back to it.
However it may come back to you after months, and then it may stay. With me it stayed on the third time it came.
Don't push yourself, shave every time as you wish and as it pleases you. Perhaps you need more time to enjoy your Feather. When the time comes that you'll have kind of enough of it, though, first thing that'll get back into your mind will be the straight - remember that. Straight shaves are (to me) clearly superior* to anything else and highly rewarding.
Nice shot as usual and lovely razor, excellent work by Neil.

Thanked: 1072Awesome Attitude
Beautiful piece of Japanese steel Robert
Congratulations, thats a very satisfying feeling, and a beautiful razor too.
Congratulations Joe.
I thought it was just me. I have one, and it has been one of my most difficult razors to get a really nice edge on. I've got it shaving pretty well now (the best I've had it), but it took a lot of trial and error, it didnt seem to respond well to my PHIG or the Thuri. I'm sure I have read other opinions that say they take a great edge though, possibly from Max? But it sounds like he could put a sweet edge on a rusty axe.

Pre-Shave: A relaxing shower Brush: Semogue 2010 LE #66 Razor: Ern ATOR 6/8 Honing Regimen: Chosera 1k, 5k, and 10k followed by 40 circles and 20 X-strokes on Iwasaki choice Nakayama using water only Strop: Kanayama Soap/Cream: SRD Sweet Patchouli + Bomb Boheme + glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Lavender After shave Balm: Sabon EdT: Montale Black Aoud Results: I decided to experiment a bit with my finishers to see how I can maximize my impact with my new Choseras. I took this one to my Nakayama, which had not seen much duty as a finisher since I got my Oozukus. I wanted to see how it would work without slurry, so I went water only. The result was very smooth and very sharp. I was left very BBS, but this was not my favorite edge of all times. I think the Nakayama needs at least a tomonagura slurry. I'll continue to tweak this edge.
