What an awesome SOTD!! After a long week where I haven't had the time to shave well, I pulled it all together with this combination. They Acca Kappa(thanks again Robert was great in the just arrived today dirty Bird Scuttle 1.5! Wow after two months waiting let me tell you... Fantastic!I finally have a scuttle worthy of making great lather with a big brush. GOBS AND GOBS!! I also recently received a bunch of sample's of GFT and Edwin Jagger AS/cologne/ASL. The combination of the EJ sea buckhorn(what is a sea buckhorn anyway??) and GFT wild fern is an amazing combo. SWMBO loved it also(bonus!). Really made me rethink any soap I have used must be retried in the new scuttle! I love relaxing end of day shaves. I still had work for a bit today but came home and finished shaping and sanding the new scales on the twin wedge's for myself and Nervin and placed the first coat of tung oil on them. Ok I'll stop here but I cant wait for the reveal once done. HMMM. I seem to be in a fantastic mood after this shave today. Co-incidence? Thanks you all for the wonderful posts the last few days as they helped keep me going until I could again participate.
BTW, Bill how did the job interview go?"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

Let me add a touch more info. so you won't worry about me. All the tests they gave, which amounted to 3 days worth of tests, an MRI, a test I don't know the name of, but they shot me up with some radioactive material and took many pictures, then the treadmill test, and back for more pictures. The MRI showed the bulging disks in my back and neck, and the radiation/treadmill tests. I must admit that the first day I was there, there was another test that I hardly remember, but it was focused on my heart condition too. The treadmill test showed no blockages, but the radiation pictures showed an anomaly that concerned them. Then the last day I was there, they did an ultrasound, watching the valves and beats for about 1/2 an hour or so. The second day I was there a pair of neurologists came and visited me. We did a bunch of strength tests in all the extremities and they found my left side had several spots where the feeling was absent. They also said that my left hand was showing signs of weakness, along with my left leg and foot. Afterwords, they explained that the feelings I was experiencing was due to a really bad set of disks near the base of my skull, and another set in my lumbar region. I have an appointment with him in 2 weeks. I can't take any blood thinners until then, and the appointment was 2 weeks out to get all the aspirin out of my system. I don't understand it totally, but they made it sound like all the pain and sensations I was feeling was due to my neck, not my heart. They asked if I wanted the surgery, to which I replied: 'Not if I can help it!!'. So we are going to do some therapy or something, along with some nuronton (sp?) until my appointment. They said the PVC's were only slightly worse than a normal persons, which they said everyone has them, only some never feel it, and others have too many in a row and require a pacemaker or defib appliance to keep it running straight. My sister also has an extremely low BPM and she has a defib appliance installed. There is a medical name for it, but I can't remember.
One thing I noticed today while back at work for the first time since this started is this: I'm having a lot of trouble remembering things that should have come really easy. Street names, directions to places I've been a 1000 times, peoples names that I've known for years. Weird stuff like that. I was getting really pissed off that I couldn't remember certain things. We are talking about a guy who plays music trivia every chance I get and used to have incredible recall. So much so my wife made up a name for me: Spongebrain Saggypants (play on spongebob).
Now I'm just an old guy struggling to remember. I was like WTF, why can't I remember... But as soon as someone reminded me, it was right there, but I couldn't pull it up on my own. I'm hoping this is a side effect that will go away in time. I didn't feel particularly well today, and when I took my meds at lunch I got kind of dizzy and felt sickly after a short while. I didn't eat first, duh. Wont' do that again!!
Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread, but i want you guys to know they took great care of me. I was fully satisfied with the tests they performed, and my father who also has a really bad ticker, thought they covered the bases well. He has a few stints installed, but he is down to about 40 percent heart function at 80YO. We about lost him to heart disease, but he's doing quite well with his little walker. I've tried not to follow in his footsteps there. hehehe. So don't worry about me, I'm happy with the care I recieved, and convinced that the attacks were actually severely pinched nerves in my spine that mimic'ed a heart attack.
Does that make you feel better??? LOL
Mike-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Today's Shave:
Razor: Challenge Cutlery Co.
Brush: 22mm whippeddog
strop: Big Daddy
AST: Tend Skin
AS: OBR
Cologne: OBR
As usual, this challenge is one wicked shaver.
A Hot shower, with a good face conditioner for 10 minutes, some Omega Soap with Glycerine.
A hot Towel soak for 5 minutes, followed by some Olive Oil rubbed in.
A nice clean DFS and I'm ready for bed.
I had planned on showering and shaving after work and before dinner, but I fell asleep in my chair at the computer reading the forums and didn't wake up until almost 7:30. Talk about a stiff neck!! So dinner was a little late, and the shower didn't start until almost 9 o'clock. I'll go to bed clean and smelling good!! SWMBO loves that too.. and I really needed the nap!! LOL
Gnite men!

07-29-2011, 05:30 AM #220What a FANTASTIC series of shaves boys. I can't wait to catch up with more in the AM
Ahhhhhh...What a nice shave Kalerolf. I love it.
Hey Scott,
Welcome to SOTD (I must have missed your other post, I think). Great shave indeed...So, how does the TM compare with the English Bridle I?
We missed you too brother...Hope you had a great vacation
Rum,
What a great "post-vacation" shave buddy. I love it. It's great having you back.
Tim,
Gorgeous Hans...That soap sounds intriguing too. What's the scent like?
José,
Wonderful combination buddy. Great shot
That is what I call match made in Heaven. There's nothing a Shavemac can't handle
Why? I actually like the "no signature"...much much cleaner and doesn't distract from the posts. But, that's just me.
Hey Paul,
Congrats on the DB 1.5. Julie's work is just amazing. I have the double Scuttle and love it (it's big enough to pot a plant, LOOOOL). I take it you liked the AK 1869 compared to the tube?
What a wonderful photo Frank. I love that razor (especially the blue tang). Absolutely stunning
Mike,
A Wicked shave for sure. Well done
So, now we're so boring that we made you fall asleep, LOOOOOL? nothing better than a power nap.
LOOOOOL. I reckon a lot of us go to bed by the time you wake. Beautiful Dovo you got there EA.
Beautiful double feature Tom
