Post Week of July 24 SOTD - Saturday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 25mm Custom Shavemac D01 Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 6/8" C.V. Heljestrand #32, 1/2 Hollow Ground, French Point (w/ Butterscotch Micarta)
Strop: 30/45/65 (Neil Miller Linen / HandAmerican "Pegasus III" Horsehide / HandAmerican "Pegasus III" Cordovan leather)
Überlather: eShave "Almond" Shave Creme + Mama Bear "Almond" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue AS
After Shave Balm: eShave "Almond" ASB
    Cologne: Creed "Original Santal" EdT
Results: Yesterday, I received a brand new HandAmerican strop from Jim at "The Imperial Shave". The Pegasus III is truly luxury at its best. It has a regular Horse and a Cordovan horsehide with whopping dimensions of 3" x 30" and soft as heck. I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this strop and thoroughly enjoyed my experiences dealing with Jim. I took out another Maxterpiece today (surprise ), i.e., the Helje #32. I gave her 30 lashes on the Neil Miller linen, 45 on the horsehide and 65 on the cordovan. I was honestly scared of that edge and for a second, I was seriously having second thoughts about shaving with her. But she delivered a smooth as butter shave. I love this blade (then again, what else is new ?). I am ready for what's sure to be a busy Saturday with family. The nephews are out this weekend racing with their dad.

    Have a SPECTACULAR Saturday gentlemen.

Beautiful Boker Jack. Enjoy the weekend and vacation. You'll be missed during your absence...If you can't post that is, otherwise, I look forward to some wonderful "vacation" SOTDs. have a great time and be safe

    Razor: Juan Vollmer, Palmera #14
Soap/Cream: Czech & Speake No. 88, shaving soap
EdT: Czech & Speake No. 88
Results: Spanish steel delivers. This my very first Palmera is no exception. Ever since I bought this 15 months ago, it has been one of my very best performing razors. The C&S products are really nice, thanks Robert for the recommendation
    Birnando,
Now, that's what I call going all out for the brotherhood. Gorgeous shave and gear. You're welcome about the recommendation and enjoy your meetup brother. I have organized a small one on Aug 13 at my place, open to anyone interested in coming.

Love Indian food. +1 on tea...Wife and I are tea freaks. We have all kinds at home. After all, it's rather easy to get access to all sorts of teas when living in So Cal.

PS: can't wait to read the reports about your "post-Aug 6" finds/scores, LOL.

Well, I got some lovely lather today. I never super lather with Nannys, don't see the need for it.
    Mikael,
Fabulous shave today buddy...The only way I could get Nanny's to work for me (btw: thanks for the sample via Bill) is in a Super or Uberlather form (with very little "other" product), and then she performed marvelously.

What's there not to love buddy Antoni...She's a beauty indeed. Love the bowl too. Congrats.

PS; check out the bloom on that brush. Chubby 2 (3 band) has one of the best blooms I have seen on a brush

Oh brother...No apologies necessary Grant. No one can blame you for feeling the way you do. But you have to remember that this is not going to be Jack's fate...you do have to be strong for him. I am sure that he gets all his strength from his family, especially his dad. I am very sorry to hear about Zac...My wife and I are just sitting here reading this and we are effected by it too. Our hearts go out to his family.

Prep: A great 2 mile run, warm shower
Razor: T. Noonan and Sons Arabic
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Arko Shavestick (thats it in the jar)
    AS: Aqua Velva Classic
Finish: Murray and Lanman's Florida Water

A great two pass shave. Despite its menacing appearance this razor really is a gentle giant. The Aqua Velva/Florida Water combination is absolutely fantastic. Off to Thompson Cigar this morning for a field trip. Cheers!

    Default Challenge Razor Works Special

Brush: 22mm whippeddog Silvertip (I love this brush for lather making)
    strop: 3" big daddy
Honed: nun2sharp (it is wicked sharp, smooth as silk)
Razor: 1890's Challenge Razor Works 'Special' barber notch
Soap: Vintage Old Spice (nothing else I have gives such Uberlather with Glycerine)
Bowl: 7" Monster Apple Ceramic Lather bowl (now my favorite by far, thanks honey!)
    ASB: Gillette Sensitive
    Cologne: T&H 1805 sample

A hot shower, some good conditioner and shave oil prep, more than an hour in the bathroom. Very relaxing!! After the week I've had, I really needed it!

I actually managed a complete shave this morning, without the styptic, without the tend skin, without any nicks, cuts, abrasions or razor burn. I even managed an ATG on my neck, ON BOTH SIDES!! It wasn't the closest shave I've ever gotten, but it was smooth, accurate and it left me feeling proud! I managed to not even chase any spots with the backup razor. Note the Big Apple's voluminous amount of Lather. This is what was left AFTER I was finished. I could easily have done 5 or 6 passes with the amount of lather created. It has a great consistency. I could have kept whipping and built a small house on it. It would make that good of a foundation, LOL.

Doing my left side is becoming a 'challenge', heheh, pun intended. This was probably the best I ever did using my left hand on my left side. I left the bathroom feeling rather smug and extremely satisfied. What a great start to a totally lazy Saturday.

    Happy Shaving Gents!!!

    Mike

I'll prob be so sore in my wallet that I can't buy much, today we had another family shopping frenzy - tons of books, a buffet visit on a lovely Indian rest (again, but this's the best so far), the odd bits and a shaving mirror at Marks and Spencer, at a modest 12.50£. If we keep it up, there;ll be no money left the 6th of August, lol.

Hmm, do you live in hard water land? I think you once said you didn't though ... Well, never the less, it's a challenge to get things together in a new place

PREP: Hot shower with face towels
RAZOR: Charlie Lewis Custom borrowed from Nubskillz
    BRUSH: Rudy Vey Chubby
    SOAP: Italian Master Barber LE
    ASTRINGENT: Thayers Unscented
    ASB: Skinfood
    EDT: Carven Vetiver
RESULTS: WTG AND XTG TO EXCELLENCE!!
So I borrowed a lot of Davids blades, haha and this is another one of his. The CL is just a fun razor to use. It is super sharp and keen, and very smooth. WTG and XTG is all I needed to make it a great shave. Also received my Italian Barber LE yesterday so I had to try it out. First impressions; Smell is outta this world, its very intoxicating. It is a little too soft for my liking but I can get over that. The lather itself was pretty good, not great like MDC and so forth but was definitely worth buying. My face is pretty smooth and soft afterwards, not sticky smooth but noticeable. So all in all it is a good soap.
AWESOME SHAVES AND PHOTOS THIS WEEK GUYS!!
GRANT, IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT NEWS ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS CHILD, IT CERTAINLY SADDENED ME TO SAY THE LEAST, MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND STAY STRONG BUDDY.
