Today I have visited San Sebastián (the city where I was born), in the North of Spain, to see the 1st day of the most ancient sporst competiton in Spain, a traditionnal rowing race called "the Flag of La Concha" , the flag is the prize for the winner. A typical weather for this corner of Spain, rainy, windy,.... The worst weather for rowing in the sea, but the difficults make the competition very interesting....

My 5yr. old daughter has enjoyed the race with me. I wanted to introduce her to this sport because is very traditional in my family, my uncle made the race boats , called trainera, in wood, but the modern rules allow to use carbon fiber....and this new material was too much innovation for my uncle.

As a lover of traditional wooden boats, let me express my sadness at the loss of many of the skills developed over many generations of boat building.

Also let me say that your daughter is very cute. I have a grand daughter due in December and I hope she is as cute as your daughter.

    Default Roll on Tuesday.

Another touch of RAD and I ended up with a pair of Rollers. This one was the better of the two, and the older and a blade dated to '38. Decided after using the Roller's own sharpening system and not liking the result I took it to my Coti and gave it the dilucot treatment.

Several days stubble and an against the grain firsts pass was quite rough, not keen on the angle of the blade - have to use it quite flat. Second and third pass were a lot better. With the grain was quite smooth but had burn on the neck area from the first pass.

A few hours later and I'm feeling smooth.

Think I'll give this a go with a days growth after a few more laps with light slurry/water and see if it feels better.

Ah well back to work in the morning, gotta pay for my RAD somehow lol.

Yorkie, that's my experience too the flat blade angle is important to get the best from this one. I did a fair bit of stropping on a "real" strop too I just laid the strop flat and ran the blade along then swivelled it round. i,e. I stropped one face about 30 times then flipped it to the other side and repeated. Then I used the built in strop before shaving.

I did actually think of doing that. I gave it a few passes over a balsa cromox before doing a some light slurry/water passes. I gave it about 20 strops on the built in strop as well.

JMHO but I don't think 20 is nearly enough, if you see how "far" it moves or doesn't for that matter.

I did the proper strop work after honing but recently I strop for about a minute at least one lap per second. Next time it will be longer, as my last shave wan't quite as go od as the previous one.
