By that I mean a nondisposable blade I like my shavette but I'm excited to see the difference in the weight and feel of a traditional straight razor plus I can work on learning all the other aspects of wet shaving ie stropping, honing and such

Size: 4.5 KBToday was a very special shave for me. I just received my Grandfather's restored "The Artist" Levering Razor from Max Sprecher yesterday afternoon. The blade is FLAWLESS and the new butterscotch linen micarta scales are beautiful!!! Sorry the picture doesn't quite match my shave, but I took the photo last night to send to my older brother who sent me the razor a few weeks ago as a surprise. After my father passed away 19 years ago, my brother received all of his tools (my brother is quite the "handy-man"). He found my Grandfather's razor in a tool chest, it probably had been there for 50+ years. When my brother found out my new hobby was straight razor shaving, he sent it to me as a suprise.

    SOTD -- April 1, 2012:

Location : Huntsville Alabama (Heart of Dixie)
    Prep : Hot Shower
Pre : D.R. Harris & Co. Arlington lather and then steam towel (using my c.a. 1930 Koken Barber's Chair)
    Lather : D.R. Harris & Co. Arlington
Brush : Elite Razor custom (Silvertip badger with quartz handle)
Razor : "The Artist" Levering Razor Company c.a. 1920
    Post : Alum block
    AS: TOAS Sandlewood lotion

Result: Probably the most meaningful shave of my life!!!

A HUGE thank you goes out to Max! He was aware of how special this razor is to me, and did a spectacular restore on it. The scales are beautiful, honed precisely, and had a very quick turn around. The photo doesn't do the razor justice!
