Comfortable shave.

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Custom by Chris w two band
Razor: Sum Extra, Solingen
Cream: Proraso
AS: Ogallala L&P
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very close
Today was edge test day too and even though I really like this kind of blade, like this Sum Extra, it had either gotten a little dull while I was sanding some stains/spots away yesterday (don't do anything but shave, after you hone, ok ) or I was a little off re the honing. I was going to try the Gong out too, but just kept going with the Zum ... The Gong's prob the best preserved NOS razor I've ever found (it was dripping with oil in it's box and after I wiped it off, it looks like a brand new razor. Amazing).

Today is a special day. I was selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves back in January, but am just now getting a chance to do the formal promotion ceremony. A special day called for a special travel setup:

Razor: Genco "Fluid Steel"/ Worldmaster #137
Post: Proraso AS/ Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: It's been so long since I have had anything but BBS shaves that I have become spoiled. Got the Genco from my youngest son and it has some heavy hone wear, especially at the toe. It also has some hidden corrosion that goes to the edge. After honing it felt pretty decent so I decided to give it the shave test. What a dismal excersize that was. Went 2 passes and had to go to the Worldmaster for the save! DFS after 1 pass with this beast, it's due for my first rescale maybe later this week. Got some G10 for the scales, hope it turns out.
