Brush: SRP Thäter
Razor: Giesen & Forsthoff Adoration De Luxe 666
Strop: 40/60 Neil Miller Linen/Kanayama Cordovan
Cream: Proraso Sandalwood
Pre/Post: Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood skinfood
Results: First try with both razor, cream and the skinfood. The cream and skinfood impressed, the edge i put on the razor not so much It didn't suck big time, but it tugged a little bit so I probably should have spent a little more time on the bevel. (That's what you get when doing several thing at the same time ) The new Proraso on the other hand really impressed me, I'm not too fond of creams, but this one will be a regular in my rotation with it's nice mellow scent and wonderful lather. Thanked: 375Had a strange start to my day. Woke up with a kink in my neck, got a shower, got my DE out, soaked the brush, lathered up the La Toja, shaved my head, no problem. Switched to my Boker King cutter, to shave my mug (three days of growth to wipe away). Started my shave on the left as usual (I'm left handed) and it took the hairs right off, then moved to the right side and it was tugging at my whiskers. I wasn't happy about it so I went to my strop and proceeded to.........cut it five or six times....So as I looked at my strop and thought WTF, I dropped my straight then. It was like slow motion, ....."random thoughts were, gee I hope it doesn't land and hit my foot edge down, and oh look it's going to hit the carpet in front of the sink, and then SH$*T I hope it doesn't chip the blade. It didn't, I took it to my Franz Swatty Barber hone, 10 strokes and finished my shave- BBS, Thank God it's the end of my work week

Thanked: 485That's a bloody cool picture/idea. I very rarely use the 'ocker-ism' 'bloody' but I don't think I'm allowed to use my normal adjective here...
Yeah, I know, normally I either 'gush' about thinks or 'rant' about things, there's really no in between...
What? Are you a time traveller or something? You are, aren't you? You're a TIME traveller!
Thanks for the photos, Grant, Camp Quality is a great organisation! :-)Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 08-27-2012 at 10:06 PM.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

This evenings shower started with warm water and Mama Bear's Bay Rhum soap.
Warm Oil
Dirty Bird scuttle
Custom Badger Brush
Mama Bear's Rosemary Lemongrass Shave soap
Bob Allman 7/8, full hollow,Dyed Oxblood Bone scales
Honed by Nelson on Jnats
SRDP1 Strop, 10 laps on felt
Razorock Aluminum
Pinaud Bay Rum AS
Vaseline for men
Last week I ordered a few items from Mama Bear including a few bath soaps as well as shave soaps. I've been using the Mama Bear's Bay Rhum soap in the shower for the last few days. The soap lathers really well, smells wonderful and leaves me feeling fresh. I've been using the stuff in the bottle for the last few years. The Mama Bear's soap turned out to be a welcome change to my day.
The Mama Bear's shave soap is easy to lather, gives a really nice aroma and performs very well. Leaves the skin feeling very smooth as well. I like it as well.
Nelson (Bayamontate) honed this razor for me on the Jnats with nagura progression. The edge was buttery smooth, and removed the whiskers easily. I am not torn between several ways to hone razors.
Anyway, nice way to end the work day and begin a quiet evening. My girls are back at school which makes it MUCH too quiet around here.
Enjoy the evening.

Prep:Hot Shower
Bowl:Imperial Shaving Lather Bowl
Strop: SRD PIV English Bridle 30 webbing/60 leather
Brush: Semogue 830
Cream: Al's Shaving “Saigon”
Razor: Geneva Cutlery “Pyramid”
Result: A fine shave to begin the day. This was my first try with the Saigon scent. It has grassy notes with citrus underneath, I quite enjoyed it. The performance of the lather was superb with excellent glide and cushion (as I've come to expect this fine product line). The Geneva razor did a tremendous job. I finished up with Creed “Original Vetiver” to keep the mood alive. Thank you gentlemen for the all the well wishes and “Welcome Backs”. I'm pleased to once again find myself in the SOTD brotherhood.
Cheers!
