The day’s shave was interesting; a new razor, being a rather diminutive Swede (thanks Mikael ). I decided to shave with it without stropping or touching the edge at all, just to see how it would go. It fared quite well, actually, even though I’d not bought it as shave ready and I was told (after the shave as it turned out) that it indeed was not really shave ready. I found it quite passable, actually, esp given no stropping. I know we often tell beginners not to strop their newly received razors, but I do feel two weeks’ travel from one end of the world to the other; in all sorts of weird and wonderful situations and humidities and such would have played absolute HAVOC on poor little Maja’s edge. The new razor has a name; the first one to get that honour. Though we have heard of Barry Burrell before. Regardless, Maja’s edge was a little frazzled after the intercontinental flight, so, after the first pass I introduced the young lass to none other than Neil Miller. Well, what Neil did to Maja is, well... Well I CAN’T really say; modesty forbids…It is enough to say she was well pleased after the encounter and proceeded to finish her work in a happy and youthful mood; her little Swedish cheeks as flushed with vibrancy as Spring herself!

Today I tried another new artisanal soap offering. Pannacrema offers a handmade tallow soft soap with subtle, but very nice scents. Today, I tried their Casablanca. This is an amber citrus soap with a slightly floral touch to it. The scent is soft and clean. I didn't bother with a test lather, I simply pressed into a tin, and loaded up like any other soap. I was rewarded with a very easy, and efficacious thick and rich lather. The shave, delivered by my Kikuboshi Special, was absolutely wonderful. The soap provided just the right layer of protection and the blade did all the work. I was nearly BBS after the first pass. A second for touch ups has me ready for work. The after feel from the Pannacrema was very good. My face felt soft and supple. I think this soap may have found a place here!

So funny: "Panna" is Italian for "whipped cream" (milk cream, of course) and "crema" is just... cream!

Well, it's aptly named then!

Prep: Warm Shower/ Proraso pre-post creme
Scuttle: G5 w/cold water
Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: MNS Lemongrass/Eucalyptus
Razor: Elyria Hardware Co. M.I. Germany 5/8" Square point
Post: Proraso AS/ AOS ASB
Result: I found this razor in an antique store, had some hone wear on the blade, but I liked the scales and the fact that the razor was from an old hardware store about 10 miles from where I grew up. The store isn't there anymore and I can vaguely remember it, but I like the little bit of history that goes with it. I honed it and got the edge dialed in and it shaves beautifully, butter smooth edge coming off the Naniwa 12k. The MNS L/E coupled with the old VDH boar made for a fragrant and lubricious shave! I am off to work feeling like a king!

Quick shave today. I chose Wacker for the job. Only had time for one pass but since i had WAY to much growth it gave me a very close shave. In the picture is my new hobby. Collecting oil lamp. Wont get to the same level as straights. These take up alot more room. LOL!

Another soap Bill? Do you have enough closet space for all these??? Sounds like some good stuff though, and BTW is that brush new too?

Wow, only just saw that DR Harris have a new line out, Windsor, after a quick Google search of course. Shows how out of touch I have been with the shaving world lately...

Is it any good? How would you describe the scent and the soap's performance?
