Razor| J A Hellberg Frameback | Soap | Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad| Hair Tonic | Pashana Bay Rum | After Shave | Madame Scodioli Step Right Up
I believe it is Wednesday, an uneventful day for me. Shave was alright. Soap was Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad which did alright. After shave was Step Right Up by Madame Scodioli. I have some Step Right Up travelling hither; that might brighten things up a little….

Although it was a daily standard years ago, the three pass shave is now once in a blue moon. This was a three pass shave. I'm catfish belly smooth!Last edited by 1OldGI; 02-20-2013 at 11:14 AM.

I am wearing an interesting EDT today...Eau de la Skunk! Let the dog out to do his business and he got sprayed! I let him in and peeeeeuuuw. Guess my poor wife will have to take him to the groomers today. I would have left him outside, but he's a boxer and it's 19 deg.F. (-7C.) So the back room is rather fragrant and I think I may have got a little overflow myself. Isn't that just a lovely way to start out.

Prep: Shower
Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik
Brush: Simpson's Chubby 1 Best Badger
Soap: Nanny's Silly Soap Co. "Patchouli" (soft)
Razor: Pavageau, tail-less, 13/16 quarter hollow
Astringent: Osma Alum
Aftershave: St James of London Cedarwood & Clarynsage AS Cologne
Notes: I must admit to thinking fairly black thoughts when I received this razor yesturday. It looked altogether too perfect and clean for the age this type of model must be.
I thought for sure that it had been reground from a wedge to a quarter hollow, with resultant destruction of the temper.
Or even an imitation.
The previous owner had stated that he had honed it up for a shave but wasn't happy enough with it to keep it. Certainly the tail-less design takes a little more grip and angle control which is perhaps why they aren't so popular.
Regardless, I gave it some time on a coticule, thuri and special stone. Took and held a really good edge - one of the sharpest and most even I've managed to get without overhoning.
The shave confirmed it - very smooth and effortless. I didn't bother going WTG, just straight to ATG and no sting. A keeper for sure.
Hardly any deformation of the edge afterwards. Result!
