Today was a real 'a ha' moment when I shaved.

I started by pulling out some hones:

I honed then test shaved and WOW was it great.

Nice soak in a hot bath with a few wet/hot towels.
    AOS pre shave oil
AOS lavender cream with a Gemstar silver tip brush
Three passes, no nicks and no irritation
Cold rinse and a healthy splash of Clubman.

    Ahhhh! Best shave to date

    Monday

Razor | Klas Törnblom | Soap | Proraso | Hair Tonic | Pashana Bay Rum | After Shave | D. R. Harris bay Rum

I haven’t used the Klas Törnblom for some time, as it’s ‘programmed’ in my rotation for Sundays and I haven’t shaved on Sundays for a while; I’m going for a bohemian look on weekends these days.

The shave was a ‘ho hum’ shave all in all, mainly because standing was painful. Standing was painful because I hurt my knee bouldering on Saturday. I lack a tendon of some sort in the knee (legacy of a falling off roof while drunk thing a few years ago). The ‘surgeon’ decided to just rip the thing out and throw it away; hence Carl's leg bends too far backwards when Carl forgets he’s 50 and overdoes things. Carl often overdoes things; overdoing things is what Carl does.

One day Carl will learn to simply relax, but the problem is Carl also overdoes relaxing, hence the falling off the roof while drunk thing…

Wow. Very nice looking razor. Love the colour and 'distressed' nature of the wood and fixings. Also, oddly, I like the look of the wide bevel and hone wear. Another 100 years and some poor sod will be removing a LOT of metal when they hone that!

This week my setup will not change as I am testing some prototype after shave splashes for a shop.

    Prep: Shower
    Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik basic
Brush: Simpson Chubby 1 Best Badger
    Cream: Castle Forbes Lime
Razor: Levering Razor Co. "Mail Pouch"
    Astringent: Osma Alum
    Aftershave: TOBS No.74 Victorian Lime

Notes: 2 and a half pass BBS, little alum sting afterwards.

Beautiful razor, thin, moderately stiff blade, spent a while beautifying it with some metal/pastic polish before honing up.
