Here’s a 114 year old. The little French razor takes an amazing edge and shaves like the big boys. Keep on shaving.

Thanked: 247A few of my favorite straight edges:
Prep: A long hot bath with towel soaking on face (feel the stress leaving the body...)
Preshave oil from AOS
Lather with silvertip badger (soaked in hot water during bath) and AOS Lavender cream
Strop (16 laps on webbing, and 62 on Latigo that is well broken in)
Blade is a Hart Steel 7/8 Square modified by EwersTruly (me...and all I did was finish some dyed stabilized Oregon Maple burl for scales and installed them, then honed the razor)
3 passes to relaxation and DFS
Finish up with the Clubman (like ALWAYS) and bask in the glory!
Anyone interested in the other blades?
Top one is one of my competition blades (think lumberjack chopping events coupled with chopping small moving targets, and slicing various stationary objects not known to be easy to cut unless the blade is SHARP after doing all the hard chopping) It is goofy, but amazingly fun.
The middle one is the blade I carry most days. It is a custom blade made by a friend to my design.
The bottom one is the subject of this post
All three will pass the HHT...I know that subject is argued frequently, and I realize its applicability, but mention it only to brag about how sharp I keep my knivesLast edited by unit; 03-03-2013 at 08:00 PM.
