    Gentlemen,

I opt for comfort over perfect in both straight and double edge razors. Through the years, I have tried scores of double edge razors, everything from a seven-day set of beautiful Joris to Muhle R41. I take each razor for what it is and give it its due respect; therefore, the following list comprises my preferred razors in no particular order:

Feather AS D2 — with Feather, Super Iridium and Personna Medical Prep blades.
EJ DE89/Muhle R89 — with Gillette Yellows, Perma Sharp Super and Polsiver Iridium blades.
Weber — with Personna IP Red blades.
Merkur Progress — with Personna IP Red blades.
Gillette Aristocrat — with Feather, Super Iridium and Personna Medical Prep blades.

For some reason vintage DE razors do not excite me. Stainless steel does. Based on reviews, razors I'd be interested in purchasing in the future :
1)ATT, All the heads and handles appeal to me, oozes quality
    2) BBS-1, reviews and polls blows everything out of the water, just beautiful
    3)Stealth slant, so elusive
    4) R41, agression

Not a DE but I'm on the waiting list for the Mongoose which means everything else has to wait.
Currently DEs I own R89 and AS-D2 both of which I rate very highly but the AS-D2 is my favourite. The mongoose will make it 4 razors in 3 months for me.

After trying 30-40 DE razors I ended up keeping a 2013 Muhle R41.

Similarly here. Mostly I use a straight (>90% of the time) so the R41 2013 provides a quick thorough shave which is ideal for taking on trips!
    Have a nice day!

My picks are: EJ 89-Comfortable, not overly aggressive.

Weber-Stainless, a bit more aggressive than the EJ. Will outlive us all.

Merkur 37c-Most aggressive DE I own. Not as difficult as some say. Close
    shave, but should be respected.

Actually the one that's your favorite.

    Gillette Slim Adjustable
    Weber Classic closed comb
    Merkur 38 & 34c
    EJ DE89EG

I can remember posting, maybe 7 years ago, that I'd love to see an all stainless DE. Old timers back then replied that it would be prohibitively expensive and I'd probably never see one. Well they started making them and they are damn near prohibitively expensive for me.

If you've got deep pockets they are available nowadays, and beautiful DEs they are. I did pick up an Ikon 1st generation slant because a fellow listed it on the bay with a BIN of $100.00 + like $3.00 shipping. These DEs going in the $200.00 range are just more than I'm willing to spend at this time. YMMV.

Before starting on this adventure, I used a Muhle R89 Twist. It's thd heaviest of the R89's. My son has one as well. The razor is made with superb quality and delivers a great, comfortable shave.

From my collection which isn't huge but respectable my picks are as follows.

    1. Gillette red tip vintage. Just a great smooth shaver. Comfortable shave with almost any blade I load in it.
    2. Merkur 37c. Best slant you can buy for the money. No its not a ikon slant but its also less than half the cost.
    3. Merkur HD. My go to with a feather blade for a fast smooth work day shave.

I also own other gillettes including slim an super speed an open combs. All are good but the above is my top 3.

I have used about 20 De razors I would say:

    Red tip Gillette
    Slim Adjustable
    NEW

I have not used any modern razors, I like the vintage look.
