Thanked: 127Shaving at the gym or in a public bath is nothing for me, maybe when i got no time but regularly shaving is a ritual for me, always in the same way and with the same arrangement, therefore i need quiet and a feeling of security i only have at home.

Thanked: 1160Just sayin, but back my high school days if you didn't shower after gym class because you were sqeamish, you were looked down upon. And if you didn't shower, the coach would drag you into the shower and or write you up for bein dirty and unhygenic. I'm old skool . And shave........be proud and unabashed ! And as the drill Sgt. would say ......wash yer nasty (expletive).

Thanked: 1185I live in an apartment complex and sometimes shave out by the pool (as I did this morning). I get lots of funny looks, my neighbors likely find me a bit odd but the perception of me as an armed lunatic will likely be good for the security of Casa GI. I see no issue with shaving at the gym. If you're so inclined rock out! I figure anyone who shaves with a straight razor (or shared that fact with co-workers or friends) is used to the concerned looks and the "are you OK?" questions. We're all mad you know!

Shave at the gym if you want! I never have, but not because it's prohibited or because it may seem odd. Some guys do shave at the gym I used to attend, and it was no biggie.
I have shaved with my straight in a dorm style restroom while at a week long camp last summer. All the guys there thought it was cool, and at times came into my room at check out my straights. I stropped them all before I left, so I took five razors with me, one boar brush, and a Mama Bear's shaving stick.

Quite a few years ago now, I used to be a Director at a YMCA-YWCA. The only shaving-related issues I recall coming up were all these stubborn old guys we couldn't get to *stop* shaving in the steamroom. They appeared unable to understand that others may not be wanting to sit their bare arse in a pile of someone else's stubble.
Lots of guys used to shave at the bathroom sinks, especially the ones that had proper counters, etc., to put one's stuff on. I don't recall hearing of anyone bringing in a straight, and I probably would have heard of it pretty quickly if someone had. It was in a part of town with serious gang problems, so there was a strict prohibition of weapons (bladed and otherwise), and I suspect there would have been quite a schmazel if someone was seen with a straight. I'm sure most people there would have perceived one, at the very least, as a potential weapon.
So, apart from checking with the gym and making sure you're not going to get yourself barred due to someone thinking you've brought a weapon, I'd say go for it!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Okay, you guys flame me if you want, but having considered taking a str8 to our own Y and having a go, I have decided that in the end, it smacks of exhibitionism, so I'd probably be self-conscious about it. Granted, not nearly as off-putting as the guys who use the wall-mount blow dryers to dry their junk, though (usually fat old guys for some reason). YMMV
There are many roads to sharp.

I'd use a DE for that. And I don't like DE's...
