    SO... MANY... HILARIOUS... COMMENTS...

Seriously, though, I couldn't care less. I've heard all of these reasons why it would be "weird", "dangerous", "illegal", "unsanitary", etc. but there are ways around everything anyone has objected to.

First, as far as shaving in a public place, particularly a gym, lots of people start their morning with a workout and head straight to work after. If the gym didn't expect some sort of morning ritual to occur there, there wouldn't be a shower except to rinse off before and after the pool (assuming your gym has a pool). They would expect you to go back home and shower there.

Second, I would either strop at home or bring a paddle strop or strop backed barber's hone.

Third, I would bring a couple of Barbasol or Clorox wipes for before and after the shave to wipe the sink down with. Sanitary for me and the guy behind me.

Fourth, as far as the looks, I have never had a problem with that nor ever will, because ultimately, it's my life not theirs.

Fifth, I'd bring a brush, shave stick and post shave treatment (balm, splash, alum... pick one) and my razor. I'd easily be able to fit all of this in a compact space.

Sixth, I don't worry about people bumping into or distracting me. I shave with my son, a five-year-old boy, in the tub for nearly every shave (he "shaves" along with me using my old shavette with no blade in it). I have to deal with him splashing, playing, making noise, etc. while I concentrate on my shave. I also have to make sure he doesn't decide to do something that would cause him to drown. All with a sharp blade against my face/neck. I think I can handle some questions, gawkers and pedestrian traffic just fine.

Seventh, concerning legality, I have a carry permit. In Georgia (US), that entails open or concealed carry of any firearm, knife, stun gun, etc. except for bars/taverns/pubs (not restaurants that sell alcohol... they're fine), govt. buildings, churches or schools. Also, I don't give two hoots if I didn't have a carry license... anyone with any common sense and logic should realize my intent was not to use it as a weapon and if I'm arraigned for doing so, I'd gladly serve the sentence out and then leave that community altogether. Any community where I'm charged for using an everyday object as a weapon in it's normal role and capacity doesn't deserve my tax money. We need to get back to people not being hysterical over every little thing, and I think one of the many tactics to accomplish this is hit their wallets. Besides, a medicine ball or freeweight would make a more effective weapon anyway... don't people know how brittle carbon steel is?
