To many items to list and if I do I might just start to cry over the money I have spent.

Spotted this in a group of 4. Looking forward to getting my hand on it and restoring the blade and sorting out some new scales. Looks to be late 1700's.

Two outbound badger brushes today, a Rooney and a Thater....One inbound badger, a simple Kent BK4, an old favorite coming back into the den.

Thanked: 25Challenge razor arrived! It has some tarnish, which I will work on with the Dremel tomorrow, may redo the scales. There is like black scale on the tang and some reddish looking rust on the inside of the handle where the tang was. Looks like bone, but feels like plastic handle, I may redo it with some regular woods (rosewood or redheart maybe?) after I get the blade cleaned up a bit.

Thanked: 25Yeah, if it is, it's some nice Honey Horn, so I am hesitant to replace them completely. I may clean the nastiness inside the handles and re pin and call it good. I got some small buffing wheels and the MAAS polish that Lynn uses in his videos. Not looking to get a full mirror, but to at least clean up the blade a bit from the tarnish and goop on the tang.
I couldn't wait. Got out the Polish, did a few passes with finger/papertowels, really started to clean up nice. Used the Dremel a bit more and it's MUCH more polished. Tried to get pics but they suck inside with my camera/lighting. I did see that there is an etched logo on the blade, on the bottom it says "Full Hollow Ground" and there is a rifle above it, and then the top line is mostly washed out, but I can see Razor as the last word, and the first word looks like cel (maybe celebrated??) A lot of the tarnish on the tang is gone. On the side with the Challenge Cutlery Co Bridgeport, Conn, the tarnish is mostly where the tang sits in the handle. On the other side, the tarnish is heaviest where the tang is out of the handle? There are some small nicks in the very edge, so I will reset the bevel tomorrow and work my way up. All in all, very happy for a $21 Ebay razor!
Got to clean up the bevel tonight, nice edge so far! I cleaned the blade with denatured alcohol and the scales; the scales felt very sticky, so it may be a plastic handle material? Don't remember horn getting sticky with DNA on other stuff?Last edited by taz575; 06-22-2014 at 01:34 AM.
