Good call on keeping that fine, vintage strop, as I would do the very same thing. I’ve really come to appreciate strops this year.

In my experience most Solingen blades of that size are made from #14 blanks, and they all seem to perform similarly.
Additionally, edge retention has never been a concern with any high quality Solingen blade. I strop my razors after shaving and lightly coat them in mineral oil, which defenitely helps maintain the edge.
Having an increasingly larger rotation of razors also makes it difficult to measure edge retention.
