John asked me if I missed the light in my Chinese loupe, Jerry.

Funny how the 10x BelOMO image looks larger, sharper and brighter than one seen through these 40X LED Chinese loupes.

The LED light was nothing more than a gimmick for me. Everything must have LEDs, but whether they need them or work at all seems beside the point.

That was one thing i did notice. The light in the room was enough for this new loupe. The Chinese one needed light. Odd. I dont use the loupe much but now i know when i do, it will be easier to use.

Now to replace my chinese microscope for a real one. NOT!

LED assisted to compensate for the sh!tty optics -- makes perfect sense!

I haul a portable work lamp over to the sink when I am honing so lighting is a non-issue for me. Even less an issue now that I have a loupe as opposed to an LSO.

Good to see you back around, Helge. A pic of that knife as it arrives would be interesting!

Landed this afternoon. I've got it cleaned up and am hoping to post some pics of it the 'Who Bakes Bread' thread after I figure out how to use it and see what kind of flours I can make.

You are one serious home baker. Do you have a source of raw grains nearby?
