I got my first Thuri in the mail today. Dark blue with a rubber. 1 5/8 x 7. Did some horse trading to get it. Now i need to make a nice wood box for it.

Some knots arrived today surprisingly quickly.
2 band finest fans, and some really attractive synthetic fans, just to try.
New supplier from the Far East since vgs seemed to dry up.

Initial observations are positive on construction.
Haven’t taken the calipers to them but the bases are clean and evenly sized. Good density, and pack.

I got a box of knots from VS not that long ago. Dry you say? I am anxious to hear your reports.

I actually got this some time ago. it's a new old stock Filarmonica Especial para Barbas Duras. Never opened, celophane wrapper still intact. It was the last one in the salesman's box so the seller also sent the box. I am in no way disappointed.

On my way home from work yesterday spotted a store called Exotic Wood, and stopped in.

    $200 later..
But some lovely pieces. And on the far right my first hunk of lignum vitae to try turning. Heavy dense stuff that..
    Cheers.

Those are beauty pieces of 3” tall madrone burl Shawn.
Can’t wait to turn and finish one of those.
Has some awesome subtle figuring going on in them.
    Never turned madrone before..
The rest is box elder burl, mulberry for a wedding gift attempt, and the rough log is sumac.

Just received this Hamley shaving kit. They make high end saddles as well. Just cleaned it up with some saddle soap and is good to go. Just needs some more hand rubbing, just like my vintage strips. Just to share.
