Thread: POLL: Adding for-pay membership options

i must admit that putting a symbol or something by your avatar depending on how much you contribute finacially sounds ridiculous to me. not just because i can't afford to put a lot in, but because i don't think it has anything to do with the credibility of the person or their advice. just my opinion though.

Hi Jockey. We loss quite a few active members. This not internet activity. This is civic/social.

I'd be glad to contribute. The members of this forum have an infinate amount of passion and talent - there is much for me to learn here.

I voted yes because the options you presented are infinitely more tasteful than trying to raise funds for maintaining the server, and all that, through SRP parphernalia.

And, yes, I would pay double for a personlised Umlautiser. As in Böker. Or Bergischer Löwe. You know...?

I think that if some sort of icon is displayed denoting that a member contributed it ought to be the same no matter the amount. To avoid intimidating members into feeling that their contribution isn't as good as another members.

Some members like the mods, BeBerlin, Hoglahoo, Bart and slantbartfest among othes have contributed more to the forum and the Wiki then could be quantified in $. Just my two cent contribution.

That would be my preference as well. You're shown to be a supporting member. No more than that. No elitism. Also, I think we ought to keep things as simple as possible. Unless there is a very good reason to have multiple levels (which I don't see) it'll be one amount (not too high) giving additional benefits.

Also, I want to clarify that we don't need additional money to keep SRP afloat. We get by with the money from the ads, and it's not like we need a serverfarm to run a bulletin board with only a couple thousand active members.

But adding stuff that requires more money (in the form of software, developer time, or resources) is something that we could do.

I got this idea over at martialtalk.com and it seems to work very well over there.

Even without the bonus add-in options, I would support this community. I have gotten much useful info, and I would be happy to cough up a little cash as repayment.

If SRP would need money to keep in existence as is, I would be more than happy to become a donating member, preferably without any extra titles or rights than the non-donating members. I understand this is not the issue right now.

As far as extra payable functionality to be add to the site, I'm not interested.

As in "pay for a new skin for the Wiki that makes it blend with the forum"? I would be more than happy to pay for that.
