I didn't vote however I will say the way B&B does it I don't like.To make it short, if someone wants to contribute I think you should just ask for an appeal 1x a year and guys contribute whatever they want if they can afford it. I don't like this special badge identifying who gave what and special areas and perks for contributers because that just makes second class citizens out of the others.

If guys feel they get something out of the site then that should be enough reason and if that doesn't work we can think of other approaches. I also think if any site starts accepting funds from members that essentially changes things and the site has a responsibility to let the contributers know how those funds are being spent.

    Just my 2 cents.

I would prefer to be a supporter or contributor because I appreciate what this site is offering to me and others of like interest. Can we have that option? An easy way to support this site by monitary contributions without getting anything else that we don't already have. And also I feel that there is no reason to announce to anyone who it is that contributes.

These three quotes sum up my opinion on the matter.

I am very willing to support this site with $$. I can afford approx $50/year from my Social Security income. For me the SRP community is well worth that minor contribution. I do not need any extra features, I simply want this great website to continue. It is an important part of my life, has been for a number of years now, and I want it to continue.

A simple symbol indicating that I have contributed financially would be sufficient...but not necessary. I do not like the silver, gold, platinum designations/levels that other websites have implemented.

What I would really like to see is that backups are performed religiously.
A great deal of information/knowledge has been accumulated here and it would be a shame to lose it simply because of a lack of funds.

    Just my $.02 this evening,

I would contribute just because this site is great. I think it would be ok if contributors got more photo space etc, but I don't like the idea of their being certain content that only contributors can see. So as long as we keep the whole site open to everyone, I think a lot of us would be happy to contribute [and I second JimmyHADs point about not ranking contributions].

    +1

I also like the idea of a SRP email address, that would be my main reason to contribute.

I voted no only because of the "as described below" turn of phrase in the question. I have been a member here for less than a year and spent most of that time just lurking, observing and soaking up information. There is an amazing amount of data available on this site which would have been impossible to find just a few years ago. I would be glad to contribute to the cause, but I have absolutely no interest in blogging, email addresses and the like. You can put my name on the list of those who would gladly contribute anonymously,
    without emblems or special favors.

    Regards - Walt
