First of all, I pleasantly surprise to meet Lynn Abrams there. Second, the soap itself is the best soap I’ve ever used, not that I have used a lot. It has the right balance between too slippery and not slippery enough. And more importantly, it does not leave my skin dry. I sure wish I had bought more than one jar, but at 48 Euro a jar…
    Gentlemen,
My brother was in Paris about three weeks ago and visited this shop. I had told him about it. We had lunch at his home in Chicago last week. After lunch he said, "Oh, I have something for you." By Jove, it was a jar of Martin de Candre. Now that is a precious souvenir from a glorious city.

Good God man. What did your brother do hit the man over the head and pack him in a jar and bring him back alive? You gonna force him to make soap for you in Milwaukee?

I can see it now in the vendors section, Obie de Candre-the essence of old Milwaukee.

Spendur, my friend, I can see the shop in Milwaukee. Except that I will probably hoard the soap and not share it with anyone. Mine! Mine! Mine! Interesting enough, my brother had only one day in Paris, as he was on the way home from an extended trip in Europe, and he made a spacial trip to this store just for this celestial soap for yours truly. Bless his heart, he is a loving brother and a gentleman.

I had my first shave with Martin de Candre yesterday and it was..................very nice. I didn't expect angels and rainbows to fly out of the container of soap and they didn't. But overall, I'm glad I got the soap and will use it with pleasure. It has a unique scent and the shave was oh so smooth.

I don't know about the recommendation to leave it top open. maybe if you use it all the time however I've found when you leave any soap open all the time the scent starts to go bye-bye. The tub of MDC I have I use in rotation and have had it well over a year now and it's loosely covered and it's lost much of it's scent. I just make sure it stays uncovered after use until it's dry.

All this talk of MDC had me very intrigued, so when a co-worker was headed to France last month I asked if he could look up the place. He just happened to be about 15 mins walking distance from one of the retailers and got me two jars. I sent one do my dad for Father's Day last week.
I certainly like the smell, but I could use more! But some people probably don't like it overpowering. What really got me what the glide. I haven't had a lot of experience with various soaps, but the glide was definitly a step up. For now I'm leaving the lid off, but I too am worried about the scent leaving...

Is there a preferred site where people are ordering from? Otherwise from the rav reviews i'm going to have to arrange a trip to France.
There is always a solution, whether it's already present or if you have to make it.
