Santa Maria and Aqua De Palma cost over $60 over the counter here in the states so paying that much to ship is equal to other high end soaps.

Well, I have no willpower. I ordered it shortly after complaining about it earlier, anyway.

I usually love cheap soap, this is a bit of a departure. I like expensive stones, nice straight razors, but love cheap soaps that perform like expensive soaps (cella, real shave co cream, etc). Even went so far as to throw away nearly unused quantity of AOS sandalwood cream from a tub so I could put my beloved cella in the tub. I can still smell the scent of sandalwood at the bottom of my shop trash can.

I think mastercard feels that I'm a low class individual unlikely to make such a purchase, because shortly after I made the purchase, they called me with a fraud alert checking to see if it was me who had made the purchase. Of course, I am low class, but I didn't need them to remind me.

I also ordered La Toja cream, arko, and proraso red. My wife told me last week that she was tired of me spending money on stones.

What a downer! The cost of the soap (I did register to get the VAT taken off the soap) and shipping together was a bit north of 60 bucks. I think a kilo of cella cost me $38 (I even have my wife using cella). Booger.
That's cheap. About a year ago I ordered a bunch of soap and shampoo and shave soap from them and the shipping charges alone were multiples of what you were quoted.

Well, I know how i'm going to frame it then, I didn't realize the shipping was a lot worse last year.

"look how much money I saved by waiting until this year to buy". That'll do it. I think I'll go make a second order for the wife today.

    Hello everyone,

This is my first post on SRP. If everything goes fine, I should be in Paris for a week next year. It seems that I can buy one jar and if I don't like it, then there will always be someone willing to buy it from me, right?

Well, you should be able to smell it before you buy it. As to the lather, don't worry you will like that.

I don't know if shipping charges changed. Some guys say it has but I had a big order and it weighed about 10 pounds or more.

I just made a second order for the wife. A bunch of the scented soaps. Shipping today was $25 instead of $20 or so with the shave soap only. I'm sure if I ordered them together, it'd be greater than $25. it seems to be scaled by weight or something of the sort. If you ordered 10 pounds, I can imagine it was a huge charge.

The only thing I could find about the shave cream was reviews elsewhere (they seem to have disappeared on here?), and most folks liked it, but some said they thought it had a rank smell, especially if kept wet in a closed container. That's sort of bizarre, because I noticed in a wooden container, my cella would lose moisture, so I dumped out all of the AOS sandalwood cream in a plastic sealed container and put the cella in it. No similar effect with the cella.

I'm not that sensitive to different soap smells, though, as long as it's not "berries and fruit" or some other lame smell that should be in ladies' shampoos.

I was in Paris last week and visted Planet Rasior. Two types of MdC were available--scented and "natural" (unscented). If you don't care for the scented (nice combination of mint, lavender and rosemary) ask for the natural.

Both of my MDC packages arrived. One for my wife, and one for me. They actually arrived a while ago, but I was out of town. The reason for the steep shipping costs is that MDC uses express shipping to the US. If you get into getting the shaving soap, you might as well look through the variety of 100g and 250g natural soaps that they have.

In both of my packages, they tossed in a little freebie, nothing big, but in my shaving soap box, they dumped a small very aromatic and masculine smelling soap. My 3 year-old daughter calls it the "stinky soap" and demands to use it when she washes her hands. I like the smell of it quite a bit, it's a "wake you up" fragrance.

In the box that I got for my wife (a bigger purchase) there were two separate 15 ml bottles of either fragrance or essential oil. Good timing, though, because I have two 1 pound bars of melt and pour scent-free soap coming, I can just melt them and add the fragrance and cut them to smaller bars.

I haven't used the shave soap yet, I also got la toja cream last week and have been fiddling with it...I wish we could get the price on it that people get in europe (I've seen it for less than 5 bucks after conversion to dollars). I should get a chance to use it tomorrow (the MDC shave soap), it has a nice smell - unique but pleasant.
