Uhhhh, the rain has set in here, I guess I will have to ride vicariously through you, soooo, could you jump back on and log 10 k for me :y
And in remembrance of yesterday, can you petel at 43kph :roflmao ( back to the future 2, movie speed at which time travel would occur.)
Well while you're at it Thug, I'm overdue for about 200 or more kilometres. Would you mind clocking that up for me so I don't fall into arrears. Speed shouldn't drop below 25kph. Good on ya mate ;)

This one makes me wish we had a Today's Butt Kickin' thread :). 10 mile single track on a mountain bike in the woods. This is much harder than riding pavement, for sure. I decided against the fat bike and picked up this Trek 4300 instead. Much more practical for this kind of riding than 47 pound, single speed bike with 4"wide tires that weigh six and a half pounds a piece. Haven't ridden a bike off pavement for years and my technique and condition both need lots of work but it was fun to get out and get some fresh air just the same.

Back behind bars again and loving it. That's what I call single track.

For the record, I was riding with no hands while taking this picture, hopped that big root on the left, threaded the bike between two huge pine trees and continued to buzz down the trail at top speed :). No, not so much, actually, I was stopped, drinking water and gasping for breath.

All this talk about the Codger is making me think about giving the old Armstrong a once-over and hitting the trail. Attachment 216643
All this talk of bikes and riding is really giving me the irrits since I can't get back to it just yet myself...But I'll still read and look at the photo's, after all it can't take forever to heal...Can it?! ;)

Today I learned that for no kidding protracted ON THE BEACH rides I"m gonna need a true fat bike. One with gears and disc brakes would be lovely but aside from not being able to politically get away with it right now, the money just ain't there. So I've decided to bide my time and get my off road skills back for a while on my Trek. I'll re-engage a fat bike next year some time. I've used and abused the "boys will be boys" excuse enough at the moment.
So I took a little rip down to Tarpon Springs this morning on The Codger. The sun wasn't up yet and it was real peaceful, just me, the bike and some good tunes. It was a shade over 15 miles (24.5 km) round trip. Great way to get the blood flowing in the morning. Now for a shower and shave then I'm off to work.
Cancelled my doctor's appointment on Wednesday. Riding the bike like I have been I don't think I need to pay him to tell me my leg is okay.
I've happened to tear some muscles in the lower right side of my back, so after a quick visit to the doctor to confirm it, I have to take it easy with my workouts for a bit. Stubborn me, I left the clinic and went to the gym.

Just been told I have 12 months to train for a city to city ride. I better get my knee to come good (which it will of course), because I want to train hard so I can ride easy.
Mick
Have been slacking off this last week, Half marathon training doesn't start till next month, and my calf is acting up again, but still grinding out Monday/Wednesday/Friday workouts, took the weekend off though.
I'm still taking it easy on the back, so I tried to leave it out of my workout. Also had to get a therapeutic massage yesterday, it feels quite a bit better. ;)

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe it's about 120kms one way. The ride is only one way, but I have to get back somehow. That might be an overnight stop and a ride back, or getting to a train the same day...Or stop over at a hostel and find a train the next day. They might also have transport for the return organised. I really don't know the particulars at this stage.
Mick
Have to sort this knee thing out first Tony. It's still playing up. I'm even thinking I might have to get it checked out by a real live doctor. Now that's a rare thing for me. You're right though. I should be able to do the distance in my sleep just about. Training for it will just make it so much easier though. :)

15.25 mile (24.5 km) ride on The Codger. My standard pre-dawn rip down to Tarpon Springs. Not much traffic this time of day so I was just cruisin' and listening to David Bowie (Let's Dance, etc.) along the way. Nice ride. Now off for a shower and shave then I'm on my way to work. Have a great Friday and a better weekend fellas.
When I signed up for Movember I also indicated that I'll be doing the exercise regime for 30 days, so I've been saving my energy this week for the month ahead. :D
Hills this morning, leg still not right, 8.5km.
