Went well. My dang fingies hurt from reefing on the string to tighten the stitches, but I'm happy with the results.

Now I need to do the linen. I'd say it took about an 1 1/2 hours to complete one.

For the record Andrew, I'm not liking the pic of the homemade micarta because it is making me dizzy.

Compared to the wonderful work that's been shown of late, I really hate to post my 'project'.

A year or so ago I'd purchased a Dapping Block and Punch Set. Awhile back I took the set to my friend 'Ski's' and he took some scrap wood and made a storage box for the set/however it wasn't finished, it didn't have the hinges attached and the wood was bare. Well the set and the storage box sat unused and not long ago I decided to see what I could do with block and punches. I made some domed washers that turned out quite well. I pinned up a razor and sent it to a friend for evaluation. He thought that for my first attempt I'd done well. And as I'd asked he offered corrective criticism. I found it very informative and I'll take his advice the next time.

That gave me encouragement to complete the storage box and actually use the Dapping Set

    Back on track!

I once again took the project to Ski's and he cut the dadoes for the hinges. I was going to cut them out with a chisel but had second thoughts and he once again came to my rescue.

Here's some pics of the project. I had thought that I'd only stain the outer walls so I masked to contain the stain. I later decided to stain the interior as well so I removed the Blue Painter's Tape and proceeded.

I had some old Redwood Stain that has to be at least 12 years old and I stirred and shook the sediments in as best I could and applied it to the storage box.

Here it is getting put together:

And now semi finished with the Dapping Set in it.

I am thinking of just leaving it with the stain finish but once it warms up I 'may' apply a clear coat to it but I'd be happy with the way it is now for as long as I live.

    Thanks for looking.

Quick question, how do you ensure that the resin doesn't stick to the wood when you remove the clamps?

Do you use a type of grease on the wood?
