I guess this kind of worked MOP is a little "Rococo", but I intend to come back to some things a little more sober.

this weeks progress ground to 1/16" blade edge,
clay coated using the high temp mortar,
heated in forge to Critical/non magnetic, then soaked a minute,
quenched in warmed Canola oil about 10 seconds then finished in warmed water,
short stint in the forge to reheat for tempering

yes this was all off the cuff & a risk with no temp gauges on my forge yet.
but hey it didn't make sparks when rough grinding, but now makes nice carbon sparks on the edge area
(so yes this is a fluke in my books)

I then ground to 20 thou thick on a 60 grit belt
did a bevel set/test then finish ground to about 10 thou on the 120grit

did a light hand sanding with 320 grit,
then hot a vinegar etch to see if the Hamon worked
and this is the results so far

Oh, don't change a thing! Lovely!

Looking good substance, but you gonna need someone to test it out. As a favour to you, I am willing to take the chance. No thanks necessary, just send it over the ditch. Even better, drop it at me mate's place in gladdy, he's heading home soon for a barbie.
