Finally received the right couplings today for the air etcher and finished the satin finish on the tang. I like the tactual feeling, a sure grip. Now to finish the bevel on the new scales. As you can see the old ones have quite a wow in them.

DD Satin Wedge
Finished hand shaping and sanding the clear Lexan scales today. Will start polishing tomorrow. My arthritic hands are a bit sore tonight. If I keep this up I need to look into some power devices. Wow some the rigs/machines folk have for this work are trick (perfect for the work).
Added a hint of girth to the tang pin area of scales for added strength and durability.
I'm getting excited now. My first total restore close to being done.
I've heard they shave the best till you finish the next one.

Looks good so far mercer. I have arthritis in my feet & my doctor gave me 500mg Naproxen tablets which are the same thing as Aleve but the prescription I get from my doctor is cheaper than buying the Aleve over the counter & it does help. My feet were killing me but the medication helps out. I couldn't believe it but it does work for me. You might try it & see if it helps you out too.

Thank you.
Not much works for me but warmth and easy does it. The only meds that work leave me to drug muddled. I hate it. I tried some compression gloves a few months ago that help a lot. I've been pushing it lately to see what works and what hurts.
And then, "Honey!... I need too... auh... buy a whole bunch of really neat err I mean inexpensive stuff... too make my hobby not be so hurtful."Shave the Lather...

Have your wife make you some cloth bags on the sewing machine.
Then fill them with dry rice, put them in the microwave and heat them up, then cover your hands in them. You can make them any shape you want, and they work wonders on arthritis problems, or if your just plain cold. [emoji6]Mike

Thanked: 0Anyone familiar with this blade?
Just picked this up at a local antique shop, interested if anyone has ever seen one like this. I googled it and didnt really find any quite like this. It has solingen ingraved between the roses on the face and says Silberstahl Solingen on the tang. Hopefully this picture is less blurred. I gave it a nice wipe down and touch up hone. Great shave.

Thanked: 2284These scales are farting corrosive gas, so I'm turning on a fan, and popping this blade out of them. Trying to save everything, collars, bolsters..... maybe not the wedge cause I'm not sure if it's farting too.
Funny thing is, I didn't even notice this Wester Bros blade has a blued tang and tail. Very cool.
