I've finished one of the three sets of scales and pinned the blade.
There is no type of finish on the scales. The African blackwood is a very dense and oily wood. I instead
sanded too 600grt, then used 0000 steel wool, and buffed with dremmel and star brite plastic scratch remover.
Used a piece of white polycarbonate as a wedge, pinned with 1/16 brass rod and stainless washers.

@Gipson
Looks really good my friend. I have thought about doing it one of these day & use different options for a handle like a beer tap handle or similar. There are so many options one could use for a handle just like a shifter knob I made for a Harley chopper I was building. I used an old camshaft that I cut the ends off. Many have used 8 balls & small pistons but I wanted to be different.
Really cool my friend. I might just do something like that soon. I have a lot on my pale right now!

I think that the handle can be made from a material that is suitable to like, as long as it was convenient to use.
P.S. I do later More photos of the device when the parcel will arrive in which the skin is for this device. Thank you for your praise, I'm glad that someone will approach the design of the device.

A razor blank I made from a piece of twisted Damascus I made myself by hand hammering a 5 layer O2 15N20 billet, and then twisting it. Normally I forge closer to size, but the twist was not perfect. Rather than hammering it down further, I just forged the wedge shape, and left the tail thicker.
A san mai work in progress. The core is O2. The sides next to it are 40 layer Damascus from Howard Clark. The outsides are a thin layer of sacrificial steel. those outside layers are simply for protecting the Damascus so that it doesn't burn up to scale. This weekend my best friend is coming over to be my striker. I'll draw it out to useable length, and then grind off what is left of those outside layers.
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Your awsome dude. Cant wait to see the final product. Would love to do that kind of stuff, but its far to over my head. A nieghbor hood youngster is learning and has built his own furnace. But his dad has kept me and my restoring straights a secret from him. He says he has enough things going on with making knifes. But sooner or later, I'll put that bug in his head..... When dad aint around. Muuuuha ha ha ha [emoji57]
